Ralph Lauren Collection @ The 2022 Met Gala

Ralph Lauren dressed Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, Ryan Reynolds, Janelle Monáe, Shalom Harlow, J Balvin and Jon Batiste for the 2022 Met Gala held on Monday (May 2) in New York City.

Much like Blake Lively, Alicia Keys paid tribute to New York City (and her famous song about the city) wearing a custom Ralph Lauren Collection cape cut from duchess satin and encrusted with jewelled embroidery that details the New York Skyline that glimmers with the subtle sparkle of more than 200,000 crystal stones.

Beneath the cape, Alicia wore a statuesque column dress which also shimmered under lights.

Tiffany & Co. jewels completed this majestic moment, which is destined for her Hall of Fame.

Alicia’s husband Swizz Beatz also had New York on his mind, as he rocked a Ralph Lauren Yankees leather bomber jacket over his Ralph Lauren Purple Label cream dinner jacket.

The look was accessorised with a Ralph Lauren x New Era Yankees cap.

This look won’t work for everyone, but it works for me as the music producer was in unison with his wife, plus he has the swagger to pull this off.

Without her cape, I wouldn’t have been sold on the bomber jacket or the cap.

Both took inspiration from The Gilded Age and the collective that helped build New York City into the iconic landmark it is today, the couple looked elegant as they celebrate their hometown and how it continues to evolve while staying true to its roots.

They were one of the best dressed couples for me.

Ryan Reynolds, who was a co-chair with his wife Blake Lively, sure does have a thing for brown suits. It’s the inner supply teacher in him methinks.

As always, was giving us classic Old Hollywood glamour wearing this Ralph Lauren Purple Label velvet peak lapel tuxedo.

I love the images of him standing back and watching Blake’s gown unfurl.  He was as in awe, as we all were.

The all-white vest, bow tie, and pocket square combo ensured a suave finish along with his brown Chelsea boots.  

Repeat after me.  Janelle Monáe never misses.

The actress-singer always makes a statement on the red carpet and this custom Ralph Lauren halter dress with a fluted mermaid skirt that is richly embroidered and beaded with jet black rhinestones is no exception.

We’ve had some kooky moments from her at the Met Gala, but this was a return to pure elegance.

Shalom Harlow wore a Ralph Lauren Collection red and black look, which is a custom version of a Ralph Lauren Fall 2022 Collection runway look.

Unfortunately this didn’t excite me as much as the other looks from Ralph Lauren. I think the droopy bow killed it.

J Balvin is usually more adventurous fashion wise, but there is no denying how luxe, crisps and fresh this Ralph Lauren Purple Label tailcoat tuxedo is on him.

His Ralph Lauren RL867 steel watch, antique pins, antique watch fob, cufflinks, and cane all added a classic touch to his look.

Jon Batiste is perhaps another person who we expected more from theme-wise.  But he kept things classic in Ralph Lauren Purple Label.
