Jennifer Lopez’s New Year’s Eve Fashion Extravaganza

One of the highlights of 2020 was Jennifer Lopez’s superbowl performance with Shakira, so who better to help us ring in 2021.

Some have said that singer’s performance on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve was a little OTT, but frankly, it’s what we all needed.

Especially fashion-wise, as the singer gave us a Lady Gaga moment in Valentino Fall 2020 Haute Couture with a spherical Marianna Harutunian headpiece which resembled the dropping ball itself.

It was kinda hard to imagine some of the looks from the Valentino Fall 2020 Haute Couture collection on the red carpet, as each look was suspended in the air, but we didn’t have to picture this tulle and feathered coat dragging along the red carpet, a stage or up the Met Gala steps, as Jennifer opted to stand on top of a podium for us to see this piece in its full wedding-cake-esque splendor.

Under that coat, was a strass embroidered halter neck Balmain Spring 2021 jumpsuit styled with a Balmain custom-made strass wrap jacket.

Balmain don’t do princess dresses.

Well apparently they do. But not without a selection of layered silver necklaces to take this blue tulle gown into ’80s Madonna territory.

Balmain’s signature pointy jacket from the Spring 2021 collection was perhaps the most Balmain way to complete this look, but it took this into “you’re doing too much” territory for me.

And this is coming from someone who loves JLo’s OTT moments.

If you scroll the the second slide, you will see that the princess glass slippers, were not at play, as she styled the gown with boots that feel like a homage to Vivian Ward.
