2020 Soul Train Awards

2020 Soul Train Awards

The 2020 Soul Train Awards aired on BET on Sunday (November 29), which saw H.E.R. pick up two awards; Best R&B/Soul Female artist and the Ashford & Simpson Songwriter’s Award for ‘I Can’t Breathe.’  This socially-conscious song is also Grammy-nominated for song of the year.

Brandy: The legendary singer, who was one of the performers on the night, wore an embellished cowl-neck blouse and matching trousers from the Stella McCartney Fall 2020 collection.  On anyone else I would’ve disliked the beret, but Brandy has quite an eclectic style, which at times has a “everything but the kitchen sink” feel about it, but on this occasion the look feels really polished.

Andra Day:  Bringing some colour to proceedings, the singer who tends to gives us looks which feel like they come from a bygone era, wore a Chanel Pre-Fall 2020 combo collection, which does have a vintage tinge thanks to the ’20s style of the button down skirt.  I love the ‘fro and simple makeup which has replaced her signature dramatic beauty, bouffants and beehives.

H.E.R.:  The singer wore an Emporio Armani look which may have been lacking in drama, but was steeped in sophisticated detailing.
