Jennifer Hudson Performs At The Democratic National Convention In Elie Saab

On Wednesday (August 19), Jennifer Hudson performed at the 2020 Democratic National Convention, under the tiffany dome at the Harold Washington Cultural Center in Hudson’s hometown of Chicago.

Sam Cooke’s classic song ‘A Change is Gonna Come’ couldn’t have been a more fitting song for the event, and the moment.

I loved the Aretha Franklin tie-in, as Jennifer sang ‘the Aretha version’ of the song, as she accompanied by two pianists: Fred Nelson (pictured with the singer), Franklin’s conductor, and Richard Gibbs, the soul queen’s piano player for many years.

Not only did her vocals give me goosebumps, but her Elie Saab Spring 2020 gown did too.

I’m at the point where I’m very much over the tie-dye trends, and sweats as I’m longing for the return of glamour.

Jennifer served it up by the bucket load in this light coral, silk plisse Elie Saab dress featuring a braided neckline and fluid trapeze silhouette.

This floor-sweeping dress is a timeless piece but it’s the gorgeous colour against her skin-tone which really sold this to me.
