Israeli fashion house Galia Lahav brought two variations on emerald-green to the red carpet of the 2020 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, hosted at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts on Sunday (February 9) in Beverly Hills, California.
Frieda Pinto: There was a lot of gown in this Galia Lahav velvet, pouf-sleeve design.
But, the leggy slit-to-there effect ensured that it didn’t feel like too much luxe fabric.
Also, I think Freida’s rather minimalistic styling with just a few Tacori jewels and a Jimmy Choo clutch worked to keep the effect modern and not too overwhelming.
Ava Duvernay: I will start with the positive here — the colour, which was captivating on its own merit.
Unfortunately, the impact of the bold hue was lost on the silhouette of this custom Galia Lahav gown.
This is a perfect example of too much fabric.
But, the real issue was that it was a silk-satin which can be a real challenge because it shows every sin, including every crease and fold — of which there were a lot of them here.
And, it made the whole look seem a bit inexpensive or amateur.
I love her locs, but they just added to the all-around heaviness of the look.
