Etro @ The 2020 Vanity Fair Oscar Party

Etro may not be the first designer that comes to mind for 2020 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, hosted at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts on Sunday (February 9) in Beverly Hills, California.
But, the label was presented and accounted for via two custom looks — neither of which had any of the brand’s signature prints or patterns to be found.
KarolĂna Kurková: Although this custom Etro gown was of the ubiquitous sheer quality, I couldn’t help but be enchanted by a couple things here that set it apart from the same-sameness of see-through.
- The ruched sleeves were a fresh, feminine addition.
- The crystallized bodysuit was subtle yet striking.
- The embroidered belt offered a strength of form.
- Her gilded hair piece was a whimsical finish.
Not to mention, the supermodel has the legs worth flaunting. Did she win you over?

Nicole Richie: Although this custom Etro gown was also black, the embellished tapestry gown couldn’t have been more different in spirit from Karolina’s entrance.
With opera gloves and all, Nicole channeled old-Hollywood glamour — but with a modern twist.
The traditional bustle was re-imagined as a sculptural ruffle at the back and it may have been my favourite element.
With smoldering, smoky eyes, she introduced her signature edge. But, oddly enough, I think it was the edgier ear cuffs that gave me pause. They were almost too big here.
