Aishwarya definitely was the best dressed. Also liked Elsa’s.

  2. Guest May 31, 2019 at 3:10 pm #

Aishwarya Rai hit the ball outta the park for me! Everyone else played it safe, except her.

  3. Guest May 31, 2019 at 3:02 pm #

Aishwarya looked ethereal in the white. Her other appearance in gold could have been included here too

  4. Guest May 31, 2019 at 7:47 am #

    Aishwarya Rai…

  5. Guest May 31, 2019 at 7:41 am #

    Absolute aishwarya rai bachchan!!!!!!!!

  6. Guest May 31, 2019 at 7:12 am #

Again Aishwarya proved she is Queen of cannes.. no one can’t beat her

  7. Guest May 31, 2019 at 1:03 am #

    Aishwarya rai.no doubt

  8. Guest May 30, 2019 at 9:36 pm #

Aishwarya looked ethereal in either gowns and the hair and makeup really helped to bring the looks together. This white Ashi couture seems like a really difficult gown to pull off so hats off to Ash for owning it like a queen!

  9. Guest May 30, 2019 at 8:01 pm #

Aishwarya Rai owned like a queen… Wish we could see more of her at Cannes and movies

  10. Guest May 30, 2019 at 5:07 pm #

Aishwarya just keeps on giving every year. Loved both her outfits this year and I’m glad one of them made it to the poll. Thanks RCFA for always being impartial with your red carpet coverage.

    so many toilet-roll holders!

  12. Guest May 29, 2019 at 6:19 pm #

I think two major trends/fads or whatever you may call it we saw this year. 1. Whites: Everyone seemed to be just wearing white gowns. I don’t remember any carpet or event which has seen that many white gowns ever! ; and 2. Tulle & Net: This year was an overload of it in all sizes. And surprisingly the sequinned Elie Saab gowns was grandly missing. I think even the celebrities have had too much of Saab.

You are right. A LOT of white gowns. I don’t remember an event like it

  13. OGCaroline May 29, 2019 at 3:11 pm #

Elle Fanning in Gucci. Nothing like it.

    • OGCaroline May 29, 2019 at 3:12 pm #

Sonam Kapoor comes a close second.

  14. Guest May 29, 2019 at 1:50 pm #

I loved Diana Penty’s look. She really looked hot.

  15. Guest May 29, 2019 at 12:53 pm #
    1. Elle Fanning in Christian Dior Couture
    2. Isabelle Huppert in Armani Privé
    3. Elle Fanning in Gucci
    4. Dakota Fanning in Armani Privé
    5. Julianne Moore in Dior(!)
  16. Guest May 29, 2019 at 12:12 pm #

Probably the most disappointing year of Cannes, but THANK YOU Catherine for your great coverage as always.

Elle Fanning in Gucci, Diana Penty in Nedo by Nedret Taciroglu and Elle Fanning in Christian Dior Haute Couture are my favorites. It contains drama and wow factor, and of course head to toe stunning and glam.

    • Red Carpet Fashion Awards May 29, 2019 at 8:57 pm #

Thank you for all your comments. It wasn’t a classic, but fun to report nonetheless.

  17. Guest May 29, 2019 at 10:12 am #

Dakota Fanning in Armani Privé, even if I loved Charlotte Gainsbourg in Saint Laurent. And I’m so bored with all those huge, sequined, embroidered, feathered, costumey gowns.

  18. Guest May 29, 2019 at 10:03 am #

    Top 5 but it changes
Guan Xiaotong in Atelier Versace at Pain and Glory premiere (not featured on here)
Lea Seydoux in the LV pants look – just because it was a change and still looked suitably formal.
Araya A Hargate in Jean Paul Gaultier Couture (toss up between that or purple Russo)
Jasmine Tookes in George’s Chakra – toss up between Sonam’s yellow look
Elle Fanning in Gucci – the upmost selling an outfit

    Thanks for the coverage.

  19. Guest May 29, 2019 at 9:46 am #

Hm, I’ve preferred Juliane’s Dior dress.
And Jasmine’s blue (Zuhair Murad) dress.

My favorite was probably Camila Morrone in Miu Miu (day 8).

I also liked Izabel G Etro dress, Zhang Ziyi in Givenchy Haute Couture, Natalia Vodianova in Atelier Versace (day 7), Josephine Skriver in Ashi Studio and Sara Sampaio in Armani Prive at the Amfar Gala.

Out of these – I’ll probably go with Sonam Kapoor in Ashi Studio Couture.

    WORST CANNES EVER!!!

Model Leomie Anderson made the highest impact on me with her striking, one-of-a kind, bold and Cannes-appropriately dramatic Rami Kadi Bodysuit look, it was edgier and something completely different.

And out of the bridal-esque big gown pool, Jessica Jung’s Rami Cadi at the opening was grand and beautifully dramatic (not featured, unfortunately). I wanted to vote for Diana Penty, but I’ve seen other shots – those feathered layers looked very heavy and the bustline was sitting way too low, she had to hunch, Rami Kadi on Jessica was more tasteful and magical.

Here, Jasmine/Sonam/Elle for her unexpected fashionable homage in Christian Dior Haute Couture.

Too many models this year, I thought, or actresses acting like models – a red carpet shouldn’t be a runway. And too many of the dresses looked uncomfortable or unflattering to wear, or like fancy dress. So although it’s nothing particularly new, for a beautiful, elegant, flattering and supremely elegant outing my pick is Helen Mirren – what’s not to love. Second is Julianne Moore and third Elle Fanning in Gucci.

    • Red Carpet Fashion Awards May 29, 2019 at 9:08 pm #

      Yes, I agree.

There are too many models and not enough celebrities.

Even the L’Oreal girls seemed less than other years.

  22. Guest May 29, 2019 at 1:18 am #

Diana Penty came out a dark horse – loved her look. The Fanning sisters especially Elle with Christian Dior..gorgeous. Thank you FC for your great content – as always the best red carpet coverage in town!

    • Red Carpet Fashion Awards May 29, 2019 at 8:57 pm #

Thank you….it was a pleasure, I just wish we had some magic moments from it. Normally I have so many to add to my BDOTY list. Not this year sadly

  23. Guest May 29, 2019 at 12:53 am #

This selection just confirms for me that Cannes was mediocre this. I voted for Jasmine. I completely agree with vicky about Elle’s need to explore other colors and the overuse of tulle. I’ll also add feathers and mullet dresses to the overused pile.

  24. Jess Mara May 29, 2019 at 12:20 am #

Wonderful coverage yet again Catherine, it’s just a shame that it was a disappointing year.
Isabelle in that glistening Armani and tha Fanning sisters were by best dressed.

    • Red Carpet Fashion Awards May 29, 2019 at 9:02 pm #

      Appreciated. Thank you.

      It’s a crying shame

  25. Guest May 28, 2019 at 10:32 pm #

    The Fanning sisters!

    1. Dakota in Armani. (PB, I’m still in awe)
    2. Elle in Gucci. (Hollywood movie star)
    3. Elle in Dior.(A+ moment)
  26. Guest May 28, 2019 at 8:11 pm #

I really enjoyed Cannes this year! I have seen so many good dresses.
I actually loved Iris Mittenaere wearing Michael Cinco 😍

  27. Guest May 28, 2019 at 8:28 pm #

Thanks FC, for the amazing coverage!

My vote: none of the above! There were some ok looks (mostly Elle Fanning), but unfortunately 2019 does not compare to previous years.

    • Red Carpet Fashion Awards May 29, 2019 at 8:59 pm #

      Thank you.

There were no box office stars.

No Fan Bingbing. No Cate, No Kidman, no Kruger no Blake.

Without one person like that, the festival suffers IMO.

  28. Guest May 28, 2019 at 8:25 pm #

Isabelle huppert. This is the look of the year.
    Runner up-julianne Moore
    2nd runner up-Elsa Hoskins
    3rd runner up-jasmine tookes

Elle fanning doesnt belong on the list. Stop the Elle obsession.

    • Guest May 29, 2019 at 8:59 am #

Then you should stop the Elle hate…

  29. Guest May 28, 2019 at 7:51 pm #

Really disappointed this year. Only Helen, Isabelle and Jasmine are memorable for me.
All those tulle gowns, just seemed to get bigger for each day. Bigger isn’t always better, this is the proof.
And Elle really need to explore other colors, washed out sums up her appearances for me.

  30. HighPriestess May 28, 2019 at 7:44 pm #

Elle in Dior Couture recreating the iconic Dior look is the only one that impressed me.

  31. Guest May 28, 2019 at 7:16 pm #

This is a great list! My top 5 from this list:

    1) Elle in Gucci
    2) Elsa in Etro
    3) Elsa in Feretti
    4) Helen in Saab
    5) Araya in R&R

Elle knocked me out in the Gucci!! An unforgettable look for sure. The rest of my top 5 might be different if I took a second look at all the gowns but Cannes wasn’t inspiring enough for me this year to do that LOL. Thanks for the great coverage as always!

    • Red Carpet Fashion Awards May 29, 2019 at 9:02 pm #

      That’s a great top 5
