Yalitza Aparicio In Rodarte – 2019 Oscars

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features Yalitza Aparicio In Rodarte - 2019 Oscars

Yalitza Aparicio made her Academy Awards debut at the 2019 Oscars on Sunday (February 24) in Hollywood, California.

The Lead Actress nominee was clad in a custom Rodarte gown which captured the fairy tale magic of the evening with its spritz of embellishment and softly flared silhouette.

Although it’s a different style and designer, it brings to mind Lupita Nyongo’s dress from the 2014 Oscars thanks to its pale shade and flow. And we all know how that evening worked out for her.

It’s pretty and elegant if a little forgettable.

Pitched perfectly for her Cindarella moment. Lupita’s dress indeed.

I grew up in the 1980s, and the prom dresses I remembered from back then were satiny looking, so I’m not feeling the prom dress comparisons here. My favorite look of hers this awards season. Love that she tried a different color.

Sis, clearly we are not talking about prom dresses from the 1980s WTf?!?!?

This is what a MODERn style prom dress looks like

She looks lovely and I’m so happy she was nominated and is enjoying herself.

Yalitza is a girly girl and I love that she isn’t trying too hard. She’s SO pretty. Princess moment indeed.

It’s a simple dress, but i think the color is so beautiful on her

Too twee and too prom-like. Sadly, a no.

      +1

She looks lovely and the color is divine but this is not going to be a memorable look from this evening, she deserved better.

    Rodarte shame on u two.

How can u make this for a best actress nominee?

I find this to be racist. I don’t think they will make this kind of cheap looking prom dress for their favourites (brie larson, haim sisters, Natalie Portman ) who are white.

This was supposed to be yalitza’s moment, rodarte u guys ruined it.

    • SilentVisitor February 25, 2019 at 12:14 am #

How is this racist? Yalitza also had a say in it; I can understand the disappointment but let’s not stretch it

      Neck up: she looks good

    • Jas February 25, 2019 at 1:27 am #

      Haha racist, seriously?

    • TeaAtTwo February 25, 2019 at 1:32 pm #

Ha, let’s not reach now. There’s racism, prejudice and discrimination around the world but this isn’t an example of it.

This is pretty, she looks pretty, and the styling is flawless, but after last night’s really beautiful red dress, I was hoping for something more visually impactful.

  12. Christine February 24, 2019 at 11:49 pm #

It’s a bit Prom. She could’ve done WAY better.

Shame as this is her first time and maybe her last time at the Oscars.

A bit disappointing since she’s been building a great style resume, but at the Oscars? It’s soooooo flat.

    • SilentVisitor February 25, 2019 at 12:11 am #

How do you know it may be her last time at the Oscars? do you have a wedgie ball?

The look is OK; given her pre-OScars run, I would have expected something different. This does not even look like a Rodarte dress

      • Christine February 25, 2019 at 12:29 am #

A wedgie ball? Not sure what in the world you are talking about.

Anyway, She said it in one of her media interviews that she is not sure she will continue acting. She’s stated many times she’s a teacher and this is her first film of course.

She also mentioned in another interview – There are no offers for her to star in a next film.

That’s why I said this “MAYBE” her last time at the Oscars. Majority of people that were rooting for her is disappointed in this Rodarte dress on her first big moment.

There is a strong prom vibe to this gown and I’m not a fan.

The color is lovely on her beautiful skin. The style is a bit young.

  14. Caroline February 24, 2019 at 11:47 pm #

    Quinceanera dress. She deserved better.

  15. Vizual Ninja February 24, 2019 at 11:44 pm #

I was hoping for more for her for the Oscars, she’s proven that she can pull off almost anything but she does look pretty.
