Fan Bingbing In Ali Karoui Couture -‘Everybody Knows’ Cannes Film Festival Screening

Posted by Catherine Kallon

As Fan Bingbing is no longer a L’Oreal girl or a Chopard brand ambassador, I did worry if we would see the Chinese actress at Cannes Film Festival this year.

So I was breathing a sigh of relief when she glided onto the red carpet for the ‘Everybody Knows (Todos Lo Saben)’ screening and opening ceremony this evening (May 8) in France.

Naturally she gave us one of her very finest princess moments wearing a bejewelled and tulled tiered gown created by Tunisian designer Ali Karoui.

With an embellished bodice, the De Beers necklace might be overkill for some – but this is Cannes, so we allow that.

What I didn’t love is the black strap timepiece and the LV bag which felt very Claire’s Accessories alongside this regal gown. It wasn’t the right choice at all for me.

No. Dated and cupcake -like skirt. And the heinous colour.

Hey, I was wondering why and when L’Oreal removed Fan Bingbing as a brand ambassador. Have they removed Aishwariya too? Why has Chopard also removed Fan? This is heartbreaking.

I don’t like it. That being said Fan is my perfect Princess who can sell anything to me. So, I guess I’m buying?….sort of lol

Hmm. I think its sweet. cute. Nothing groundbreaking or intriguing like her usual Cannes first day looks….but its lovely to me.

    Not feeling this.

Fan does princess gowns beautifully but this one went beyond princess into cheesy Barbie territory.

It a good look. The styling is a let down. We all know she can do better.

      Not a good look

Missed the mark for me :/ at first I thought I felt disappointed because the bar is very high for her at Cannes, but the dress is not even good to begin with.

This is so precious and beautiful, I’d def. remove the necklace though, it’s too much, but I’m loving this sweet standout moment.

this is almost too frou frou, even for her, way too much fluff and the styling doesn’t help either

Looking at the desginer’ ig post, Fan looked so much better without the watch and LV bag.
    Still a great look tho!

God,it looked so good with that De Beers diamond bracelet. Then she goes out like this,Ugh…..I’m so bummed tbh.

It’s sad she swapped for the watch and lv bag because of her contract…
LV just continues to ruin the red carpet!

Those contracts are ruining the look

Ethereal but this doesn’t feel so much like her. I don’t like the watch and the bag. The skirt is gorgeous though.

I have so much mixed feelings,This certainly is a miss from Miss Fan.
When I saw this look,I didn’t feel swooned and I ask myself why.
Maybe it’s because the skirt looked like a giant duster from the car wash,or the bustier with ball gown combo is nothing new design-wise.Or,maybe,If I dare say,the color was a bit twee for her?
Looking back to her hall of fame looks, one thing I noticed is that she always had a wow factor, like the iconic train sleeves in 2015 and the ground-breaking dragon robe in 2010. Sadly, the wow factor is sorely missed in this case.
I was irritated to see the clashing timepiece and bag until one of her fans kindly told me she was contractually obligated to wear a Montblanc watch and LV bag during major red carpet events.

I love Fan and I’m really excited to see she is at Cannes… but this dress reminds me of those toilet brush covers!

I don’t like this and the watch and the bag look out of place.

I don’t love this. I don’t like that green color with the silver. Disappointed.

  16. Maria F. May 8, 2018 at 7:20 pm #

there is something that keeps me from having a wow moment. Probably the poor styling or maybe the combination of the silver and seafoam.

    • Elle May 8, 2018 at 7:28 pm #

+1 I was expecting to be blown away, but this styling and colour-combo is not working for me.

  17. james May 8, 2018 at 7:19 pm #

I don’t know why this doesn’t wow me. But this is day 1 so let’s not be pessimistic already :-p

  18. Caroline May 8, 2018 at 7:18 pm #

Typical Fan but still a breathtaking fairytale moment.

  19. Santiago May 8, 2018 at 7:13 pm #

Fan knows how to bring us regal moments for the Red Carpet!

P.S. Could any thief steal her watch and bag, please?

  20. Alina May 8, 2018 at 7:11 pm #

    Oh… Sadly, I don’t love this.
