Danai Gurira In Gabriela Hearst – 2018 Oscars

Danai Gurira wowed at the 2018 Oscars on Sunday (March 4) at the Hollywood & Highland Center, joining Meryl Streep, Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie.

Oyster pink normally projects a girlish innocence, but when I saw the ‘Black Panther’ actress in her Gabriela Hearst Fall 2018 gown, all I could think was ‘fierce.’

I am enamoured with the juxtaposition of the pastel shade with the curving strapless neckline and bustle.

Her shaved, painted head and jewels add further edge to the look, but, I must say that the pooling hem literally drags the entire thing down.

This is strange styling. I think I would prefer if she wore black, navy, or dark green. The train and hem shouldn’t pool so much and I would skip out in the painted hairdo, I love the necklace but not sure if it goes with this look. Maybe a necklace that lay on the collarbone would have been better.

That close-up shot is amazing! The jewels, the painted detail, her gaze…all great and the color is divine against her skin. But the gown needed to be impeccably made since it’s so simple, and it is not.

The dress is not good. The length is ridiculous considering its the Oscars. Love her look neck up.

That side view is just glorious. Working her fabulousness. The pink is beautiful on her. Disappointed with the tailoring flaws but her head styling outshines any quibbles.

I’m baffled the hems of some these gowns. They couldn’t get a tailor for a gown that’s being worn at the Oscars? The colour is lovely on her though the painted is just distracting.

I’m very frustrated by this hemming issue too.

The tailoring on the dress leaves a lot to be desired and I feel the head painting distracts from that gorgeous face. This could have been a lot better.

Adore the styling! The gown is a disappointment though – it looks like a slightly cheap-looking prom-y gown we’ve seen through seasons.

Such a beautiful necklace! A shame about the hem but apart from that the dress looks amazing on her.

That hem is really throwing me off this look. This kind of fabric needs perfect tailoring…
