Angela Bassett In Mangishi Doll Co. – 2018 American Black Film Festival Honors Awards

With ‘Black Panther’ breaking box office records two weeks in a row, Angela Bassett, Queen of Wakanda, was in celebratory mood for the 2018 American Black Film Festival Honors Awards on Sunday (February 25) in Beverly Hills, California.

The actress wore a Mangishi Doll Co. dress made of a traditional cloth called Chitenge celebrating history and culture.

A chitenge is an East, West and Central African fabric similar to sarong, often worn by women and wrapped around the chest or waist, over the head as a headscarf, or as a baby sling.

The vibrant dress, which was modernised with faux leather piping and a fringed hem, is ethically crafted in Zambia.

Angela enhanced the look with an orange clutch, chunky gold earrings, matching bangles and an oversized statement ring from Darrell Roach Jewelry; completing her look with a naturally styled hair that Tina Turner would be proud of.
