Royal Academy Summer Exhibition Preview Party

Wednesday (June 7) played host to the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition preview party, a highlight of London’s social calendar which attracted a plethora of style savvy stars.  I was delighted that many summery frock were on display, despite the not-so summer weather.

Zawe Ashton: There was something very 1920s about Zawe’s Roksanda ‘Hillevi’ dress in glorious bubblegum pink satin. Sleek finishing touches were added with a Roksanda ‘Besa’ bag and Roksanda ‘Dana’ shoes.

Florence Welch: Sticking to her signature bohemian style, the singer kept things colourful with a Gucci Fall 2017 ensemble. Black and pink floral prints made way for a ruby red Gucci clutch and cream Gucci boots, both emblazoned with the designer’s definitive animal symbolism.

Katherine Jenkins: The singer chose a monochrome Nedo by Nedret Taciroğlu piece for the occasion. While I liked the lace detailing, the belt seemed ill-fitting to the look.

Tamsin Egerton: The actress positively glowed in her pink and white mini dress complete with off shoulder detailing and baby bump. The Vivetta Spring 2017 was finished with fun abstract detailing and she kept it playful with colour contrast heels.

Josh Hartnett: I love how the outerlayer of Josh’s look offers both the sleek look of a blazer and the long length of a coat, with a Hawaiian-style shirt to add a touch of summery appeal.

Arizona Muse: The beautiful model wore a Temperley London Fall 2017 dress that oozed retro charm.  However, her matchy matchy accessories clashed with the gown.

Laura Bailey: Donning Valentino, the model stunned in a floor length gown that combined dreamy pastel lace panels with a pleated metallic finish. She dressed down the look with flowing beach waves and heavy kohl on the eyes.

Ellie Bamber: Amongst the stunning gowns, Ellie kept things more on the casual side with a duck egg blue two piece by Chanel, adorned with silver buttons. She completed her ensemble with ruby red accessories for a pop of colour.

Emilia Fox: The English rose opted for an unusual design by Temperley London Pre-Fall 2017, which unfortunately fell flat for me. The graphic prints were jarring to the eye and the tuxedo-style detailing did nothing for the look.

Laura Carmichael: The ‘Downton Abbey’ star definitely brought a touch of subtle glamour with her Roksanda Resort 2017 dress. Her frilled shoulders added an abstract touch to an otherwise classic silhouette.

Sai Bennett: Glowing in a lemon yellow, the actress opted for The Kooples’ floaty floor length gown that exuded effortless beauty. Choppy bangs and subtle jewellery completed her look.

Joely Richardson: With a spectrum of colourful gowns on the night, this Roksanda Pre-Fall 2017 dress worn by Joely  stood out the least. With a bewildering combo of baby pink, coral and burnt orange tones, this piece looked a bit confused.
