Marion Cotillard In Christian Dior Couture – ‘Little Prince’ (‘Le Petit Prince’) Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Marion Cotillard In Christian Dior Couture - 'Little Prince' ('Le Petit Prince') Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Following the amfAR Gala, Marion Cotillard was back on the red carpet for her ‘Little Prince’ (‘Le Petit Prince’) Premiere during the 68th annual Cannes Film Festival on Friday (May 22) in Cannes, France.

Marion was quite disappointing this time last year, but the actress looked breath-taking wearing a Dior Couture off-the-shoulder gown imbued with plenty of high-fashion allure.

I love how this dual-colour piece perfectly sculpts Marion in all the right places, while showcasing her newfound sensuality.

Thankfully shunning the overbearing necklace trend, she fulfilled her duties with Chopard wearing a bejewelled handpiece, with additional flecks of gold added to her hairpiece.

I think this sees Marion back to her very best. Do you agree?

Erm a bit snug around the waist. Not very flattering there.

  2. Ruth May 23, 2015 at 4:27 pm #

Conceptually beautiful and Marion Cotillard is exquisite, but the construction and fit are questionable for a courture garment.

  3. Phoenix May 23, 2015 at 3:27 pm #

A very terrible fit. Obviously too tight in the waist.

  4. Noemi May 23, 2015 at 1:45 pm #

Even if I don’t see the couture aspect of this dress, this is one of her best looks in a long time. The dress is perfect on her, and I love the styling, most of all the beautiful make-up.

  5. Mansuri May 23, 2015 at 9:47 am #

Simple dress but looking very glamours.

  6. Aminet May 23, 2015 at 8:52 am #

Even with Marion’s elegance, this looks flops. The dress looks like it belongs on a dutch maid. xx

  7. Meg May 23, 2015 at 8:10 am #

Stunning! that Chopard handpiece was designed by Marion herself.

  8. Joy May 23, 2015 at 6:05 am #

I can totally get onboard with this look! That’s more like it! This is the Marion I love so much! At first I didn’t like the way the fitted dress had a lumpy bumpy way about it. But after admiring the pics for a few moments I decided this is breathtaking. This is why she’s one of my all time favorites.

Love this! Stunning and elegant from h2t. *swoons*

I must say this is her best look so far this year,I wasn’t completely sold on her JPG look yesterday.
however, this one sees her back to her parisian best, with the simple silhouette providing the chicness, the contrasting colors providing the fun,and her updo is exactly what I wanted to see here.

  11. Dero May 23, 2015 at 4:08 am #

I’m sorry but if Jennifer Lawrence wore this everyone would call it boring. Marion gets a lot of passes.

    • chyc May 23, 2015 at 5:50 am #

It is not just the dress that defines the look. The aura, the styling and the gravitas of the wearer is very important too.

    • Noemi May 23, 2015 at 1:44 pm #

Because it’s not what but who wears something and how.

  12. Elizabeth May 23, 2015 at 2:18 am #

Terribly ill-fitting, boring, and a weak knockoff of Reese’s gorgeous Oscar dress.

    • neiw May 23, 2015 at 6:25 am #

    • Hanna May 24, 2015 at 8:12 am #

+2 agreed. Reese’s dress was far more superior to this

  13. Toni May 23, 2015 at 2:01 am #

Marion looks very stunning but is anyone else a little underwhelmed by this Cannes style?

  14. Penny May 23, 2015 at 12:54 am #

Did you not see Mackenzie Foy in her Oscar de la Renta??? That was the best look at this premiere.

  15. EmmaWoodhouse May 23, 2015 at 12:32 am #

I don’t really understand the love for this look. I like the silhouette, the play of colors, and styling, but the construction of the dress looks awkward and constricting in the bodice area. The skirt is too long, and while these may seem minor quibbles, in such a streamlined look they are glaring. It just isn’t a wow moment for me.

    • gabis May 23, 2015 at 1:10 pm #

      Totally agree.

  16. Aocc May 22, 2015 at 11:30 pm #

I wonder where are all the #freeMarion haters right now; Chic and effortless.

France’s star wearing Dior is a winning combo in my book.

  17. Pedro May 22, 2015 at 11:24 pm #

    Marion looks perfect from h2t!

  18. Chris May 22, 2015 at 10:57 pm #

I’m loving all the Diors this festival. And I agree, this is Marion at her best. She looks stunning. Very chic and classy. The gown is flattering. And I adore her styling, that handpiece!! And those gold..things in her hair are pretty cool as well. I love it from head to toe.

  19. Matthew May 22, 2015 at 10:19 pm #

FC, are you going to post Mackenzie Foy in Oscar de la Renta from the “Little Prince” Premiere too?? She was spectacular! This little girl is one of my favourites of the whole festival.

  20. tweed May 22, 2015 at 10:12 pm #

She gorgeous and I love the bejeweled hairstyle. It just looks a tad snug, like Charlize’s Dior a few days back.

  21. Britta May 22, 2015 at 10:06 pm #

It’s absolutely Marion at her best! And she even designed the handpiece jewels with Chopard herself – so cool! Both very modern, very chic and very French, very Cannes!

  22. CreoleLady May 22, 2015 at 10:03 pm #

I’m going to ignore the ripples and tucking although those seams near her feet make me wonder — is a steamer needed or is that poor craftsmanship? Anyway, stunning silhouette.

  24. chandrew May 22, 2015 at 9:42 pm #

The rippling of the fabric on the bodice is keeping me from loving this look. It was *almost* perfect.

  25. Caroline May 22, 2015 at 9:36 pm #

I love this. And I loved three Dior gowns this year, Natalie’s, Emma’s and this one. This fits her perfectly.

  26. alvaro_spain May 22, 2015 at 9:32 pm #

    The hair seems dirty.

  27. Kimma May 22, 2015 at 9:26 pm #

Her body looks amazing in this dress. It is definitely a winner. I do think she would have benefitted from a less harsh up do, or possibly some earrings.

  28. Alina May 22, 2015 at 9:07 pm #

Reminds me of Reese Witherspoon’s dress from the Oscars.

This is a much better look for Marion than the JPG from the amFAR.

  29. Jane May 22, 2015 at 9:06 pm #

I’m sorry but this looks too tight around the waist, is she even breathing in that?

    • jhh36 May 22, 2015 at 9:53 pm #

This is a beautiful dress but I agree that it looks too tight from the waist up to the contrasting fabric.

    • james May 23, 2015 at 1:24 am #

OMG! I was thinking the same. The poor woman. She probably ate some food before leaving the hotel 😀

  30. sanette May 22, 2015 at 9:00 pm #

She looks so amazing I can’t even believe this is Dior. The styling and accessories are so on point as well. This is the Marion I was missing. One of my favourite looks of the festival.

  31. Christine May 22, 2015 at 8:38 pm #

So chic and yes her best Dior look yet!

    Simple but chic!

  32. Nat39 May 22, 2015 at 8:24 pm #

The gown fits her very well and gives her a beautiful silhouette, the contrasting panel adds interest and creates a flattering neckline, her presentation is h2t polished. Nice and beautiful w/o any extra fuss, one of her best looks lately.

  33. Charlotte May 22, 2015 at 8:17 pm #

This is so much better that the disaster of yesterday.
The dress is not really exciting but at least she looks good in it. I like her hair and make up.

  34. Marcel May 22, 2015 at 8:16 pm #

She looks stunning. Simple in its construction yet very elegant . I love it. Raf Simmons definitely is redefining Dior elegance.

  35. Ramsay May 22, 2015 at 8:12 pm #

There is an aspect of this dress that makes me think of Reese Witherspoon’s Oscar dress but this is better – more refined imo
I like it a lot – and the hair and the make-up too
Definitely in my top 5 this festival
I know that everyone wants to criticize Dior these days (for various reasons), but I believe one should be fair and recognize that none of the Dior dresses this festival were bad – maybe some were not stunned by them but they were all classy, respectable, mostly simple, well cut pieces

    • Tati M May 22, 2015 at 9:19 pm #

+1 Also made me think of Reese dress, but Marion looks much better

    • John May 22, 2015 at 10:41 pm #

I thought exactly the same but I really loved Reese´s dress and this one looks like a cheap version of it for me.

    • pinksugar May 23, 2015 at 2:18 am #

My first thought was Reese as well. I like this, it’s not blowing me away (it is Dior after-all) but I can’t deny she looks elegant and beautiful in it.

  36. Yeliz May 22, 2015 at 8:11 pm #

Simple yet so glamourous. She looks so regal, I’m loving this from head-to-toe.

    • dedel May 22, 2015 at 8:16 pm #

J’adore ! This is very chic. I’m glad this is blue and not white, that would have been a bit boring. And that handpiece is to die for.
