Madonna In Givenchy – 2015 Grammy Awards

Madonna In Givenchy - 2015 Grammy Awards_

Madonna may have been among the earlier arrivals for the 2015 Grammy Awards on Sunday (February 8), but she certainly was not to be missed as she staked her sartorial claim on the red carpet at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

It’s been some time since we’ve seen the music icon on the scene, and she has come back with a bang. The icon who last year turned heads at the 2014 Grammys with a mannish suit, fedora, and a gold grill, went in an opposite yet no less arresting direction this year.

Her burlesque-inspired Givenchy ensemble this evening sees her returning to her more old-school Madge days. With this look, she could walk straight into the cabaret and hit the stage without making so much as a slight costume change.

The lace-encrusted, ribbon-accented, corseted bodysuit made use of every manageable bit of embellishment, even if it did prove just a teensy bit tight for those twins.

To accompany the theatrical piece, she left no accessory behind—from the fingerless arm gloves to the black fishnets and over-the-knee boots. Of course, her netted terrero-inspired hat, which sat atop retro platinum pin curls and a sultry cat-eye, was the icing on this dramatic layered cake of a look.

Was this leather-and-lace overload both over-the-top and oozing of extravagance? Yes. But this is Madonna and this is the Grammys. And this is how to get the night started on a memorable note.

    First contender for WDOTY.

This is terrible, desperate and classless… Funny thing about this kind of clothing, I would loathe it on a 20 year old as well as a 60 year old, but the older you get the more of a dissapointment it is because you are supposed to age with maturity, knowledge and the kind of grace a young woman can’t possess because of youth! Madonna is obviously going to dress like this until she dies and I will not remeber Madonna for anything more then being a raging glorifier of tackiness and whoring. Her music has never been that great either, she became famous for being so scandalous. Next.

Omggg can you imagine having to explain this look to your friends at school?
SIT DOWN MADONNA, SIT DOWN. YOU ARE TOOO OLD FOR SUCH LEVEL OF EMBARRASSING BEHAVIOR.

  5. TeaAtTwo February 9, 2015 at 11:51 pm #

She looks like someone’s demented grandma.

Nobody sets the red carpet on fire like Madonna, perfection. She looks beautiful. Ricardo and Madonna are a dream team.

She may have been ground-breaking 20 years ago and is to be applauded for that. Now she just look like a caricature of herself. Painful and saddening.

The front looks very conservative compared to the back of the outfit/costume. The back is hideous

The twins are begging for mercy !

This is what I want from the Grammys!!! It’s on the verge of costume:? Yes! But it is fun, out there and it’s Madonna, so she can pull it off. In these days of too safe everyone with their boring stylists that go to the same designers for the same dresses, this is the breath of fresh air. You can count on M to shake things off. Love this. Best dressed.

I love Madonna, but this get up I find a bit funny.

  12. Alina February 9, 2015 at 5:53 am #

    Too much even for Madonna.

  13. josia February 9, 2015 at 4:28 am #

    again?

  14. Cargirl February 9, 2015 at 3:45 am #

She looks just like Mae West in her later years.

  15. Bailey February 9, 2015 at 3:16 am #

All I have to say is…WTF?! She belongs in a museum

  16. LC February 9, 2015 at 2:05 am #

    what’s wrong with her boobs!!

  17. Markness February 9, 2015 at 1:48 am #

If it fit better on her boobs, this would be perfect. This was in reference of her “Living for Love” video. Could’ve sworn she would wear Versace as she is the face of the brand. But the Givenchy x Madonna tandem has always been flawless.

    Halloween!

    • Sleepless in Chicago February 10, 2015 at 11:02 am #

Yep. She is wearing a costume of herself.

  19. Amanda February 9, 2015 at 12:31 am #

The Grammys are such a fashion nightmare.

  20. julyol1972 February 9, 2015 at 12:31 am #

Too much “too” per usual! At 56 years old, you would’ve thought that Madge could muster some class by this point. Judging by this outfit, guess not!!!

  21. Jimmy February 9, 2015 at 12:28 am #

It is beautifully made and it fits it with her Living for Love video with the Matador theme. People need to lighten up. Yes, it is over the top but that is what the Grammy’s are all about.

  22. Phoenix February 9, 2015 at 12:21 am #

I just don’t get it. I love Madonna but she keeps doing these ultra attention-seeking desperado looks….I feel embarassed for her.

I understand its the grammys and originality is good. but this is just silly all round.

  23. Nicky February 9, 2015 at 12:18 am #

This being the Grammys, I’m expecting attention-seeking antics, but this doesn’t shock me. In fact, this is exactly what I expected from Madonna. Tacky and devoid of class as usual.

    • Sleepless in Chicago February 10, 2015 at 11:01 am #

She looks like a cheap imitation of herself.

  24. Nadia February 9, 2015 at 12:18 am #

I guess it could be worse (thinking about her Louis Vuitton Met Gala look of 2009).

  25. miki February 9, 2015 at 12:13 am #

oh come on RCFA…there’s a limit to theatricality and Madonna is freaking ridiculous..

  26. Pedro February 9, 2015 at 12:13 am #

    Queen Madonna looks fantasti!

    Love it

  27. lea February 9, 2015 at 12:12 am #

Let’s call this what it really is: visual pollution.

I need bleach for my eyes.

  28. Christine February 9, 2015 at 12:08 am #

I literally just SCREAMED in horror for her boobs. They look like it hurts in the second pic. OUCH.

This is a mess. I know this is the Grammys, the flashier the better, but this reeks of desperation. Madonna, NO STOP IT.

    • Hermoine February 9, 2015 at 12:22 am #

      Preach it, sister!

    • Marybeth February 9, 2015 at 12:28 am #

      +2
I find it ….sad. Truly sad.

    • sophie February 9, 2015 at 2:17 am #

Madonna has never grown up in her style or her mind (calls her son a certain derogatory word as a “term of endearment” and compared her music leaking to rape).

I hope her twins recover. I love that for all the work she’s gotten done, she hasn’t touched her teeth. I say that part without snark. I really think that’s great.

      • c February 10, 2015 at 6:52 am #

+100000. sophie, you are right on point!

  29. Yeliz February 9, 2015 at 12:07 am #

    She looks ridiculous.

    • Karim February 9, 2015 at 8:40 am #

      Second that!
