Beyonce Knowles In Nicolas Jebran Couture - 2014 MTV Video Music Awards #VMA

Beyonce Knowles returned to the red carpet for the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards #VMA, hosted at The Forum in Inglewood, California on Sunday (August 24).

Like a selection of other stars who embraced the sartorial dark side, she flaunted a moody moment in a black Nicolas Jebran Couture long-sleeve, curve-hugging gown with peekaboo spider-web netting and glittery sequined embellishment.

Somewhat in the spirit of Chanel Iman’s dress, Bey’s look had me wondering whether she was rather warm. But her shimmery, smoky eye, glossy nude lip and flowing waves only translated as cool, calm and collected.

It was those massive Lorraine Schwartz earrings that really did all the talking, though. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen earrings that mammoth in size. With their distracting proportions, they seemed better suited for the performance stage than the red carpet.

    Tacky and boring as always……….

    • tuftufwang August 25, 2014 at 17:19 #

Bad songs, bad performance, bad outfits – don’t know why but I was never very enamored by her sense of style.

  2. Aocc August 25, 2014 at 12:56 #

RCFA please put her TOM FORD UP! amazing look!

  3. scarlett August 25, 2014 at 12:22 #

Boring. It just feels like she’s doing the same thing over and over. She’s not doing anything original and for someone who supposedly is all about breaking new ground it’s just predictable.

  4. Caro Chanel August 25, 2014 at 11:41 #

Love the dress, hate the earrings.

  5. Lexa August 25, 2014 at 10:56 #

I don’t like it. It’s sombre and boring.
I prefer her Zuhair Murad gown from the press room: better colour, better earrings:

  6. Marko_M August 25, 2014 at 10:15 #

Such an amazing woman, yet in desperate need of changing her stylist. Yawn is not what I want to be thinking while looking at one of Beyoncé’s red carpet looks.

  7. Sanya August 25, 2014 at 10:09 #

Great dress, it looks good on her. Her hair and makeup are perfect, and I even like those big earrings. But overall look is one big DEJA VU.

We’ve seen her so many times in those tight sexy black gowns. I expected more.

Very pretty, but boring. I’ve seen this look, blingy figure hugging va va voom-dress with big statement earrings and wavy hair, a million times on her. I would like to see a new look.

  9. stylestalkersydney August 25, 2014 at 09:39 #

Her performance look was amazing ! Tom Ford perfection check it out on my instagram page 🙂

I think that there’s just too much going on in this look; too much hair, too much earring, too much dress.

The look would’ve been much improved if her hair was sleeked back into a low ponytail, her earrings were a lot smaller and the dress was sleeveless.

  12. jenny August 25, 2014 at 07:22 #

Felt like we have seen this and the makeup was not her best.

  13. Valissa August 25, 2014 at 07:12 #

Ugly, tacky, dated, tasteless. No Beyoncé

    • Marcel August 25, 2014 at 15:42 #

Instead, I would have said : Ugly, tacky, dated, tasteless. VERY Beyoncé.
      Can’t stand this woman.

  14. Hauteness August 25, 2014 at 06:50 #

Predictable and boring. She seems to always go with the same high neck, long sleeve, tight, lace dress. Such a beautiful and talented woman. Would love to see her make fashion choices that aren’t so safe and dated.

  16. Teri August 25, 2014 at 04:58 #

    Such a Dated Look!

  17. nico August 25, 2014 at 04:52 #

SHE is a legend, one of the best to ever to it. The best, and most talented pop star since Madonna. Queen. Who is the designer? I like the dress, but I wish she would have picked Huge designer out of paris on such an Iconic night.

I mean, some Rolland or Dior?

  18. Renata August 25, 2014 at 04:51 #

    Love it. Simply gorgeous!

  19. Valentina August 25, 2014 at 04:45 #

She looks stunning, but if only she stopped posing with her arms like that.

  20. Nat39 August 25, 2014 at 04:45 #

Too “funeral couture” for the summer.

  21. Alina August 25, 2014 at 04:45 #

I kinda love this – earrings included. I know she loves big earrings and this pair somehow works with the outfit.

  22. sophie August 25, 2014 at 04:44 #

Boring. Been, there, done that. Nicolas Jebran is a talented designer, but this is meh and not right for the season.

    • nico August 25, 2014 at 04:52 #

      I thought it was Cavalli.

    • dee August 25, 2014 at 14:35 #

I agree, she does looks nice but it’s nothing we haven’t seen before.

  23. Yeliz August 25, 2014 at 04:43 #

There is nothing new about this gown and the earrings weren’t necessary.

  24. julyol1972 August 25, 2014 at 04:38 #

Wish the sleeves were capped, because I really love this dress. Face, and hair look good, but the earrings are too much.

However, can we talk about how she KILLED it with her performance? She slayed everyone who came before her. Queen Bey, all day!!!!!!

    • Christine August 25, 2014 at 10:50 #

Agreed with every word. Loved her performance!

  25. pinksugar August 25, 2014 at 04:36 #

Queen of the night looking perfect. Beautiful gown, gorgeous hair. I love this entire look, the earrings most of all. There’s no way she could actually perform in them so I am glad she opted for the red carpet lol
