June Squibb In Tadashi Shoji – Oscars 2014

June Squibb was in great spirits at the 2014 Oscars at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre tonight (March 2).

The ‘Nebraska’ actress, nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, wore a custom, emerald green, beaded dress by Tadashi Shoji and clutch by Swarovski.

I would have much preferred to see her in a proper gown instead of a jacket/gown combo as nominee for the most prestigious prize in the American film industry.

And, while the colour is absolutely gorgeous, the matching bag AND earring is a whole lot of it.

Nitpicking aside, June has never claimed to be a fashion plate and looks incredible for being 84-years-old. Most importantly she’s having a great time.

At 84 she has earned the right to be matronly. I think she looks wonderful.

She’s 84… Anything she wears will look matronly. She looks fabulous – I cannot even believe you are critiquing this. I want Catherine back.

She looks absolutely lovely. I don’t find anything “matronly” about her look.

    Liza Minnelli, take note.

I think she looks lovely and the black trim was a great idea. I don’t find this matronly. She looks so happy and is enjoying every moment.

      I totally agree.

She looks amazing. The cut and style of this ensemble flatters and gives her a womanly, attractive silhouette. More importantly, she looks like she is genuinely enjoying herself.

I love this. The color is gorgeous and the shaping of the jacket is very flattering.
    Big thumbs up from me.

Tadashi is the master, he knows female shape. It’s a very flattering choice to her form – the jacket helps create shape while adding some structure. The colour is great and keeps it vibrant and the subtle beading adds glamour. Don’t have a problem with the matching accessories – they are not super standout/major but rather subtly complement the look. I think she looks wonderful.

matronly?! she’s 84! girl i love you and this site but let the woman live! she looks classy and like an actress better known for her roles than her sartorial choices [which is a lot more than can be said of 98% of the actors posted on here tbh….how many no name, do nothing, talentless faces do we scroll through here on a weekly basis, be real]

Don’t know if you’ve noticed, but there are a few contributors to RCFA. I know I’ve thought the writing is sometimes different from FC’s. This was posted by Suzanne Klein.

She looks lovely. Far better than plenty of younger actresses.

Yes, it’s matronly, but the color’s great and she looks so cute!

I think she looks great for her age.
