Sofia Vergara In Zac Posen – 2014 Golden Globe Awards

Sofia Vergara In Zac Posen - 2014 Golden Globe Awards

Sofia Vergara changed things up at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards at the Beverley Hilton Hotel on Sunday (January 12) in Los Angeles, California.

The ‘Modern Family’ actress wore a voluminous, black ball Pre-Fall 2014 gown by Zac Posen and a turquoise statement necklace by Lorraine Schwartz.

Although it is a quite simple dress, we’re so used to seeing Sofia in sexy, slinky mermaid silhouettes that this is a shocking departure.

Unfortunately, there’s a disconnect between the girliness of the necklace and the heavy, almost solemn dress and the gown doesn’t do justice to Sofia’s famous curves.

Nonetheless, it’s fantastic to see Sofia trying something new. Hopefully she’ll keep experimenting and find surer footing in future red carpet appearances.

This is the thing. With her body she doesn’t have a lot of choice on fashion. It is hard to dress a curvy body. She sticks with what works. It’s rather harsh on the one hand to complain she wears the same figure hugging dress (that works) and then complain when she tries something different.

Go big or… I actually love this.

Something different on Sofia…and i love it.

I like what she tried but at the same time it reminds me of Ursula in the Little Mermaid…from mermaid to seawitch…I guess she likes the sea 😉

I love the necklace with this. I think it fits her big and bubbly personality. I think she looks lovely.

I like that she tried something different, it is what many of us have been asking for and I think she holds her own. I do think the colour of the necklace is nice but it is way too big.

She looks good but I am missing the something new

Tacky as usual but at least it’s a change from her repetitive mermaid gowns.

Not her best look. Now I wish she wore some mermaid gown, this is too much.

I get a slight deja vu feeling of this. Yes! That’s is. It sort of reminds me of Eva Mendes’ Golden Globes look from 2009, with the blue necklace.

This look doesn’t work for me and I really dislike the necklace.

I really like this look. Its been a while since we’ve seen anything other than sexy on her.

    I like it too–spectacular.

I’m the only one who loves this. I thought maybe she could walk out from a cloud of floating black roses in this gown. It’s so… showstopping

I love it too, it is one of my favorite pre-fall dresses and even though i want different necklace for this, i am still ecstatic that sofia wore it so well!

what a mess. there is nothing here I like. Her blonder hair is not working for me either and that necklace is too much.

    • María January 13, 2014 at 04:46 #

She is a natural blonde, actually (:

The dress is way too big and the necklace just does not go with it. Maybe if she had another pop of colour in the dress or a belt it would’ve worked better.

She looks amazing ! Hair and makeup stoning!

  17. Nat39 January 13, 2014 at 02:47 #

This is just too much. The necklace is jarring. It’s a no from me.

I originally saw this on TV and I loved it. Here, not as much. But I think with a different necklace, it would be better. I love the drama of the dress, and it fits her like a glove, which again, can’t fully be appreciated here. The detailing of the pleats on that skirt, they’re not even pleats, exactly, but they are amazing! She looks like a goddess, to me.

I liked this on tv as well, but seeing it in full effect here, Ursula the Sea Witch from the Little Mermaid.

Sorry, I disagree entirely! We are all aware of her we are aware that Old Hollywood style is alive and on an upswing!!!

  20. Nat January 13, 2014 at 02:28 #

I love the necklace and dress separately. I think they don`t complement each other. I am so happy she FINALLY is wearing a different shape/type of dress

  21. Anne Gallagher January 13, 2014 at 02:27 #

I agree the dress and the necklace do not match. Both are great pieces on their own, and it too bad to see them cancel each other out. I don’t think that I have ever seen Sophia wear black before. It suits her somehow.

  22. Moxie January 13, 2014 at 02:25 #

I agree with FC, there’s a disconnect between the dress and the necklace.

  23. Tawny January 13, 2014 at 02:22 #

Sofia’s hair and makeup looks flawless. I love the dress too but the necklace does NOT work.

  24. Christine January 13, 2014 at 02:20 #

She said this dress is like a tent on E! and she could not have been more right. It looks kinda crazy. I only like the necklace but I guess brownie points to her for not wearing the dress silhouette over and over again.

  25. Yeliz January 13, 2014 at 02:20 #

    I really don’t like this.
