Red Carpet Fashion Awards

BD1 12 May

There was just no separating Blake Lively and Karolina Kurkova this week.

Both taking 34% of your votes, they were neck and neck all weekend.

Blake swept you off your feet with her dazzling return to the red carpet in Gucci Premiere, while Karolina’s Marchesa sculpted strapless satin-organza gown was not only a thing of beauty but was also one of the very few looks which lived up to the theme. This was my favourite too.

Kylie Minogue In Marchesa - 2014 Met Gala

Kylie Minogue was a guest of Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman at the 2014 Met Gala on Monday (May 5) in New York City.

The Marchesa designers created this gorgeous ivory silk-tulle gown with a deep plunging neckline, gold threadwork and black-diamond embroidery for the Australian actress/singer, which sees her step away from her favoured Italian designers for a rare change.

Sparkling with Harry Winston jewels, Kylie completed her look with the brand’s signature quartz-clasp clutch and a voluminous bouffant.

Katie Holmes In Marchesa - 2014 Met Gala

Katie Holmes looks charming on the red carpet of the 2014 Met Gala on Monday (May 5) in New York City.

The actress chose a bright mustard yellow Marchesa Fall 2014 gown. The dramatic off-the-shoulder shape and ruching is accented by dainty beaded detailing at the waist. Harry Winston jewels add another dimension to this daring ensemble.

Katie’s tousled locks offset the boldness of the gown, which is an edgy trend that I happen to love. Her hair and makeup is stunning, however, I’m not sold on the color of the gown. I do adore the silhouette on her, though. I would prefer to see Katie in emerald green or ruby red. Do you agree?

Karolina Kurkova In Marchesa - 2014 Met Gala

Karolina Kurkova is something out of a dream on the red carpet of the 2014 Met Gala in New York City on Monday (May 5).

The supermodel wore a Marchesa Spring 2011 gown in a deep teal hue with a painterly floral print. The dramatic shape and cut of the dress are a work of art and is perfectly accented with incredible Harry Winston diamonds.

The gorgeous Karolina kept her hair and makeup very simple to let her stunning ensemble do the talking.

This is just the kind of unique yet glamorous look that an event like this calls for. I think she looks simply breathtaking, do you?

Michelle-Obama-In-Marchesa-100th-Annual-White-House-Correspondents-Association-Dinner2

Michelle Obama was the belle of the ball at the annual White House Correspondent’s Association Gala at the Washington Hilton hotel on Saturday (May 3) in Washington, D.C which was attended by journalists, politicians and celebrities.

Just like the 2012 and 2013 event, we have to make do with this cropped photo of the First Lady, but that doesn’t dull the impact of her stunning Marchesa Fall 2013 gown.

The grey tulle dropped-shoulder gown with silver floral embroidery, modified to be sleeveless, was styled with Cathy Waterman jewellery.

Nude lips and a honey-highlighted bouffant completed her simply gorgeous look.
