Red Carpet Fashion Awards

I was very excited to attend my first Marc Jacobs show which closed New York Fashion Week.

The Marc Jacobs Spring 2012 show started (on-time) with curtains drawing back to reveal models lounging on chairs Fosse-style before taking the runway one by one which was timed to perfection.

Marc Jacobs presented an interesting mash up of 20s and 60s style pairing 20s flapper dresses with plastic cowboy boots and cellophane coats.

We also saw futuristic materials with interesting cuts, bold shapes and experimental textures.

The colour palette was just as varied with pretty pink, mint and lemon pastels, mixed with jewel tone and metallic hues.

I can’t wait to see who will be the first to wear this sporty, youthful, fun collection.

I loved the cellophane skirts and dresses as they are so daring and unexpected. We often say that certain stars would look great in a trash bag, now let’s see that rings true on the red carpet.

Key accessories included turbans, cowboy boots, fringed lady-like totes and clutches, plus bi-colour bowling bags and Mary Jane heels.

Front Row: Dakota Fanning and Sofia Coppola

Favourites: Tiered metallic two-tone dress and sporty grey sweater paired with grey striped skirt

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Leighton Meester, Datoka Fanning, Elle Fanning, Chloe Sevigny, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Emma Stone, Elizabeth Olsen, Lily Allen, Thandie Newton, Rachel Weisz, Zooey Deschanel, Helena Bonham Carter

When I saw Lily Collins on the red carpet at the “Abduction” LA Premiere last night, I was shocked at her transformation.

The young actress looked fabulous wearing a Marc Jacobs Fall 2011 dress.

Her floral embroidered satin neoprene dress has double grosgrain straps which she wears with one off each shoulder.

The dress also has a peplum at the waist to give her the perfect hourglass shape.

Lily appears to be channelling Audrey Hepburn with her darker hair and side-swept bangs.

I love the pop of colour via her Brian Atwood ‘Maniac’ pumps which matched her ruby lips.

This is a super cute look with plenty of personality. This has been a missing ingredient from her other red carpet looks.

Famke Janssen attended the “Bringing Up Bobby” Deauville Film Festival Photocall yesterday.

The actress chose to wear a colourful Marc Jacobs Spring 2011 printed strapless dress.

Her dress – which is a shorter version of the maxi presented on the runway – features a multi-coloured belt with floral embellishments.

Famke accessorized with a pair of red ankle strap heels and a bauble cocktail ring.

I like that she went simple with the accessories but I would have preferred a different shoe in a colour other than red.

Her bright, summery look was finished with lightly tousled waves and flawless makeup including smoky brown eyes.

Scarlett Johansson looked gorgeous in green as she posed on the red carpet at the Moët and Chandon event held in Shanghai, China yesterday.

As the face of the French brand, Scarlett chose a forest green Marc Jacobs glitter dot lace-inset dress from the Fall 2011 collection.

The figure-hugging dress features gorgeous slightly peaked cap sleeves and a silk Peter Pan collar around the neckline.

Scarlett accessorized her dress with a pair of black patent leather peep-toe pumps with metal detail on the back plus bronze-coloured pearl earrings.

She finished her look by wearing smoky eyeshadow forming a cat eye shape and bright pink lipstick.

The petite actress opted to style her flame red hair in soft curls. I love the way her hair colour pops against the green of the dress.

You may recognise the other lady as Shu Qi. She was one of the jurors during the 2009 Cannes Film Festival.

It looks like her dress sense has taken a nose-dive since then.

Anna Wintour chose this Marc Jacobs Fall 2011 ensemble to attend the 2011 CFDA Fashion Awards back in June.

The editor-in-chief wore an ivory satin top with a forest green embroidered pencil skirt that has black oversized pockets with beaded details.

Anna didn’t stray too far from the runway look, adding her favourite pair of nude strappy Manolo Blahnik heels and a simple black clutch.

Her signature bob and a slick of pretty pink lipstick completed her look.

Asian singer and actress Kelly Chen wore the same look, although with a black skirt, to attend Marc Jacobs’ Hong Kong Fashion Show last week.

Kelly accessorized with a black and white polka dot Marc Jacobs hat, chic patent leather pointed-toe heels and a burgundy clutch.

She finished her look by wearing her glossy hair down and opted for kohl-rimmed eyes.

My vote is going to Kelly on this one as I adore her accessories, especially her quirky hat and sophisticated shoes. Although I love the forest green version of the skirt on Anna, I much prefer the way Kelly styled the entire look.

Kelly Chen looked stunning as she arrived at the Marc Jacobs Hong Kong fashion show yesterday.

The actress wore a look from the Fall 2011 collection which we’ve seen on Anna Wintour.

The main difference it that Anna opted for a green embroidered skirt to Kelly’s black and the Asian beauty added a quirky Marc Jacobs polka dot hat.

I’m not crazy about the burgundy clutch as it feels very out of place, but I love everything else about this look.
