Dakota Johnson In Gucci – 2017 Met Gala

Dakota Johnson went for the drama on the blue carpet of the 2017 Met Gala on Monday (May 1).

The actress wore a dramatic Gucci gown with cut-out detailing and ruffle rosettes galore.

This one took me a minute, you guys. My first reaction was rather ‘meh’, but this one really grew on me. The double strap around the waist and chest is very viscerally appealing, and from a design standpoint, it’s really cool that the same straps are working to hold together the bodice and serve as sleeves.

And now those rosettes. While they are almost heavy-handed at certain angles, they’re also completely striking from others.

Her rosy cheeks and matte mauve lips (a huge makeup trend for the night) are fresh and lovely.

So weigh in: What do you think of this look?

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Between the 2017 Time 100 Gala in New York City, to a Hollywood premiere and a special screening in London, there were plenty of reasons for the men to be out in force on Tuesday (April 25).

Riz Ahmed: I applaud Riz for stepping outside the navy and black box to wear this camel Prada Spring 2017 suit—and to wear it so well—at the Time 100 Gala. However, I do question the black dress shirt and brown loafers.

Orlando Bloom: At a special screening of ‘Unlocked’ in London, the actor was casually sharp in a Dior Homme blue suit enhanced by the patterned shirt underneath that precluded the need for a tie.

Ryan Reynolds: Also at the Time 100 Gala, Ryan went for a more classic route in a Brunello Cucinelli navy tux that was handsomely polished for the occasion.

Who Wore Gucci Better? Emma Stone or Sophia Amoruso?

Emma Stone hit up the W Magazine party wearing a striking Gucci Spring 2017 floral dress; which turned out to be one of her few colourful outings during awards season.

Sophia Amoruso wore the same dress while promoting ‘Girl Boss’ last week, styling her look with the runway flower brooch and raspberry Gucci shoes, which I believe worked better than Emma’s metallic pink Gucci shoes, so Sophia wins for me.

Ruth Negga In Gucci – Tiffany & Co. 2017 Blue Book Collection Gala

Ruth Negga took a walk on the wild side at the Tiffany & Co. 2017 Blue Book Collection Gala on Friday (April 21) in New York City.

With a nod to the retro sensibility we’ve seen her favour before, this metallic leopard-print look married charm with cheekiness.

The Peter Pan collar and bow-embellished peplum provided the sweet, vintage aura while the embroidered roaring cat on the back added some unexpected sass.

Was the look a bit over-styled with the black stirrup tights and the stunning Tiffany necklace? Perhaps. But, the OTT flair translated as charismatic rather than chaotic.

On The ‘Younger’ Set With Hilary Duff In Gucci

Before you start thinking that this Gucci Spring 2017 dress is a tad OTT for daytime, Hilary Duff wore the pink lurex outfit while on set for ‘Younger’ in New York City yesterday (April 17).

It’s a look Anna Dello Russo would happily rock during the day, but for the rest of us (who like it), this sugar-rich glittering metallic dress with it prim pussybow and ruffles would only be reserved for after-dark.

But when it comes to the Gucci platforms, I will definitely pass.
