29th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Menswear Roundup

Here are three dashing gents who joined a host of lovely ladies for the Palm Springs International Film Festival Gala on Tuesday (January 2).

Armie Hammer: Positioning himself as the golden boy of the evening, there was plenty of old-school charm to Armie’s Dolce & Gabbana suit styled with Louboutin shoes to be had. We tend to tire of the predictable menswear offerings, so how does this colour combo fare?

Timothée Chalamet: Our best dressed male of 2017 started off on a classic note wearing a shawl lapel suit oozing plenty of elegance.

Kumail Nanjian: You can never label Kumail’s style as boring. I love how his J. Crew Ludlow shawl-collar tuxedo has so much vibrancy thanks to the tartan blazer. Some might find it comedic, but it’s refreshing bold to me.

Saoirse Ronan In Gucci – 29th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival

Saoirse Ronan is my one to watch this awards season, and she didn’t let me down at the 29th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala on Tuesday (January 2) in Palm Springs, California, where she picked up the Desert Palm Achievement award for ‘Lady Bird’.

The actress wore a Gucci Spring 2018 dress which not only relies on bold orange and pink block colours and skilful cuts, but also some diamante detailing to make this a stand out piece.

I love that she didn’t hold back with her accessories including Fernando Jorge earrings and Gucci sandals for a touch more sparkle.

Those always seeking more will find this a refreshing change of pace to the slightly more expected gowns we saw from Mary J. Blige and Salma Hayek at this event.

This screams major player to me. What do you think?

Salma Hayek In Gucci – 29th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival

I have always maintained that custom Gucci works best for Salma Hayek, and I feel that was proven at the 29th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala on Tuesday (January 2) in Palm Springs, California.

The actress looked radiant in her alluring green lace gown featuring a trompe l’oeil bow at the waist.

While bringing a sense of playfulness to the look with her presentation of the gown, the overwhelming feeling was sensual.

I’m praying she stays on this glorious path.

Jennifer Hudson In Gucci – The Voice

Jennifer Hudson went for unabashed glamour at ‘The Voice’ finale on Tuesday (December 19), joining Miley Cyrus and Sia.

Gucci is known for its maximalist looks and this Fall 2017 ensemble definitely isn’t subdued with its tumble of shimmering ruffles.

I can see people either being blown away by this or finding that it’s simply too much.

I actually think that she has managed to pull off the gown. The royal purple colour is divine on her. Plus, she exudes confidence making it clear she is wearing the dress and it is not wearing her.

Who Wore Gucci Better? Kate Bosworth or Anna Kendrick?

Thanks to JGV’s brilliant memory we have this who wore it better? moment.

A young, fresh faced Kate Bosworth was the first to wear this -then- fresh-off-the-runway Gucci Fall 2006 dress to the ‘Superman Returns’ London premiere.

11 years later, Anna Kendrick wore the same dress to the ‘Pitch Perfect 3’ LA premiere, taking an already sexy dress a few steps further with the Giuseppe Zanotti over-the-knee boots.

I have a feeling that Kate, who styled her look with Louboutins, will win this by a landslide, but I’m still gonna root for the boldness and unexpectedness of Anna’s look.

Beyonce Knowles is Instaglam in Michael Kors Collection, Gucci & Balenciaga

Three more posts, three more Instaglam moments for Beyonce Knowles, who shared with her followers a lesson in the gold standard on Tuesday (December 12) after becoming one with the rock band, and then glittering plenty brightly again on Monday (December 11).

First up, if anyone was going to take this already high-octane dazzler of a Michael Kors Collection Fall 2017 dress to the next level, it would be Bey.

She put that sequin embellishment to work, lowering the plunge and cranking up the slit.

But, it was her styling with the heavy-duty crimping—not to mention the gold mules—that had the ’90s calling her name with a shout-out to Tina Turner, too.
