Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Rihanna may be one of fashion’s wild childs, but lately it seems she can’t get enough of Stella McCartney’s sophisticated designs which mostly come from the Pre-Fall 2012 collection.

The recent run started back in March for the then-blonde singer. She was spotted wearing a Pre-Fall 2012 ensemble consisting of a grey lace blouse with matching pants whilst promoting her new movie, ‘Battleship’ in London.

Continuing her ‘Battleship’ press duties, Rihanna chose a Stella McCartney Evening 2012 look for her appearance at the BBC Radio 1 studios. Choosing to go bare under a multi-coloured marble-print silk jacket dress with black satin lapels, RiRi found a way to put her signature edge on the look.

It was a complete 180, however, at the ‘Battleship’ Sydney premiere, held in early April, as a newly raven-haired Rihanna donned a Pre-Fall 2012 jumpsuit. Pairing the sleek one-piece with Manolo Blanhik sandals (for a third time), Rihanna gave us pure Stella McCartney minimalism at its finest, resulting in one of her best overall looks from the film’s promo tour to date.

Honoured as one of Time Magazine’s ‘100 Most Influential People’ of 2012, Rihanna also had the privilege of singing at the Time 100 Gala, held in New York City last week where she wore Stella again for her big performance.

Her Pre-Fall 2012 jacquard ensemble, featuring a gold strapless top accented with a red-and-black top paired with silver pants, was not RiRi’s best look, but we admire her for not playing it safe.

While I’m all for this new obsession, it seems to work best when Rihanna sticks to the sleek, tailored looks that Stella does so well.

The promotional tour for ‘Battleship’ is still going strong as the female leads joined their director and co-stars for a photocall at the Battleship Missouri Memorial on Saturday in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Brooklyn Decker opted for a summery Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2012 zucchini-print dress which she paired with a white blazer and nude pumps.

Rihanna kept her look equally casual wearing an Acne ‘Alisha’ top from the Pre-Fall 2012 collection which she paired with black slacks. Her midriff-baring look was teamed with Ippolita gold hooped earrings and black sandals.

Usually I only like one or the other, but they both look good on this occasion.

It’s also nice to see Rihanna not trying so hard.

On Monday, Rihanna was spotted headed out to dinner at Da Silvano in New York City.

She wore a slinky liquid-silver Topshop maxi dress with spaghetti straps.

Her dress was teamed with a light-coloured Topshop denim jacket hoodie.

A mini Celine tote and black Manolo Blahnik sandals completed her look.

Is Rihanna’s street style better than her red carpet style?

Rihanna was one of the performers at the Time 100 Gala held at the Lincoln Center in New York City last night.

The singer continued her love affair with Stella McCartney by wearing a look from the British designer’s Pre-Fall 2012 collection.

Her jacquard ensemble – featuring a gold strapless top accented with a red-and-black top paired with silver pants and the same Louboutins from the red carpet – doesn’t work for me.

Not the style, the mixing of metals and most definitely not the bow.

If the model couldn’t pull it off, Rihanna should’ve taken this as a sign that the chances of her pulling it off were slim to none.

Rihanna, it just wasn’t your night.

Rihanna attended the Time 100 Gala which honours the “100 Most Influential People in the World” which was held at Jazz at the Lincoln Center in New York City last night.

The singer, who also performed at this event, wore a Marchesa Resort 2012 dress.

Her draped strapless fuchsia dress with a structured bodice and a voluminous skirt doesn’t work for me.

I don’t buy the ‘bad girl meets good girl’ image she’s trying to portray here. I also really don’t like the fit: the dress is too long and the silhouette makes her look boxy.

She opted for Christian Louboutin ‘Bois Dore’ heels which may have a crystallized heel, but from the front they are plain boring.

Wilfredo Rosado jewels, large curls and a dark berry lip colour completed her look.

The only thing I like about this dress on Rihanna is the colour.

This was one of my favourite looks from this collection and Rihanna has ruined it for me.

Rihanna was spotted leaving Il Ristorante di Giorgio Baldi with best friend Melissa Forde in Santa Monica, California yesterday evening.

Like Nicky Hilton, she also wore a Topshop dress.

RiRi opted for an ivory button down midi dress which she paired with Christian Louboutin ‘Crosspiga’ patent leather pumps, a favourite of her ‘Battleship’ co-star Brooklyn Decker.

The singer also wore tights, but not any ordinary tights; Pretty Polly black tights with red design which simulates a garter belt.
