2014 Critics' Choice Movie Awards Red Carpet Roundup

We’ve seen a roundup of the men, so here is a roundup of the ladies who attended the 19th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards at Barker Hangar on Thursday (January 16) in Santa Monica, California alongside the likes of Cate Blanchett, Amy Adams and Lupita Nyong’o.

Meryl Streep: Like Julia Roberts – her red carpet pal – and Matthew McConaughey, Meryl opted for sunglasses on the red carpet, much to my chagrin. The actress wore a Stella McCartney embroidery-detailed navy dress with flared sleeves styled with black tights, Ferragamo pumps and a fold-over Louboutin clutch. I’m rarely impressed with her red carpet looks and this is no exception. I wish Helen Mirren’s stylist would take Meryl under his wing.

Oprah Winfrey: The TV host wore an emerald green Azzedine Alaia dress, belted at the waist to accentuate her hourglass shape, which she styled with Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

Abigail Breslin: Her pastel-grey Badgley Mischka gown makes her look much older and the colour is washing her out. The only thing I like here is the hair and makeup.

Meryl Streep In Michael Kors - 2014 Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala

Meryl Streep was almost unrecognisable on the red carpet at the 25th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala held at the Palm Springs Convention Center on Sunday, January 4, in Palm Springs, California.

The actress wore a dressy-casual look donning a black Michael Kors knit sweater with gold studs from the Resort 2013 collection, styled with black tapered pants, a black Michael Kors barrel clutch and black pumps.

As this was quite a dressy affair, some might be disappointed by this offering, but considering Meryl’s choices aren’t always so flattering, I have to say I love this from head-to-toe and find it very refreshing.

Meryl Streep In Gucci - ‘August Osage County’ LA Premiere

Meryl Streep joined co-stars Julia Roberts and Juliette Lewis on the red carpet at the Regal Cinemas L.A. Live on Monday (December 16) for the ‘August: Osage County’ LA premiere.

The 64-year-old actress wore a knee-length Gucci Pre-Fall 2013 v-neck white dress which she styled with snakeskin-print peep-toes, a brown clutch, a silver necklace and glasses.

Sadly, none of the accessories are working for me. They don’t enhance the look and they definitely don’t complement each other.

This would’ve been an outstanding look had it been styled better, because the dress couldn’t be more perfect for her.

Meryl Streep In Lanvin - 2013 Oscars

Meryl Streep presented the ‘Best Actor’ award to Daniel Day-Lewis at the 2013 Oscars, held at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.

The actress wore a custom Lanvin gown by Alber Elbaz, which is one of her best looks to date.

Her blue-and-grey soft paillette long sleeve gown with a v-neckline and embroidered shoulder floral details was styled with two crystal cuffs, Fred Leighton triple drop antique cut diamond pendant earrings and Ferragmo black satin shoes

Looking every bit the legend she is, Meryl completed her look with a soft bronze lip colour and swept back hair.

The 2012 Women In Film Crystal + Lucy Awards took place at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in California yesterday evening.

Cobie Smulders: As one of my favourite breakout stars of 2012, I was happy to see Cobie back on the red carpet for this event. The actress wore a beautiful blush Max Mara dress with ruffle shoulders and a contrast waistband. The look was perfected with a champagne cut-crystal minaudiere, Swarovski jewels, pink glossy lips, Jimmy Choo ‘Trina’ sandals and a quiffed updo.

Viola Davis: Despite looking at least 20 years younger sporting her natural hair towards the end of awards season, Viola showcased a different do at this event. She wore a black strapless Max Mara dress with a satin side-bow detail. I wish she’d opted for something more summery like Cobie. A rich red lip colour, a studded clutch and black strappy Jimmy Choo ‘New Ontario’ sandals completed the look.

Christina Applegate: We had a shot of colour at this event courtesy of Christina. She stood out wearing a hot red Max Mara sleeveless dress with peplum detail. I wish her accessories, which included a Daniel Swarovski black iridescent snakeskin Fresh clutch with silver crystal stripe and black peep-toes, were as enticing as her dress. A braided updo and a red lip colour to match her dress provided the finishing touches.
