2014 Golden Globe Awards Menswear Roundup

Golden Globes Men 1Flexing their sartorial strength, the guys glammed up for the 2014 Golden Globe Awards, held last night (January 12) at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Here, an overview of the handsome highlights.

Matthew McConaughey: The big victor in the best actor category, the ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ star was every bit a winner on the red carpet, too. His Dolce & Gabbana three-piece tuxedo featured a surprising emerald-green velvet blazer with contrasting black peak lapels, adding a swoon-worthy twist on the standard. His touch of scruff, meanwhile, was his way of putting a casual-cool spin on this formal entrance. His wife, Camila Alves, also shone rather brightly in a glittery, black Dolce & Gabbana gown that flaunted her enviable curves.

Chris Pine: Rocking the full beard, the actor embraced the classics with an impeccably tailored Ermenegildo Zegna Couture black, peak grosgrain lapel tuxedo, white dress shirt, and black bow tie. He finished the look with Tod’s black patent loafers and a David Yurman gold pinky ring.

AFI Awards 2014 Menswear Roundup

AFI Men

Lest you think it was a women’s-only affair, quite a few gents also attended the 14th annual AFI Awards Luncheon at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills this afternoon (January 10).

Bradley Cooper: The ‘American Hustle’ hottie looked smart in a navy Thom Sweeney suit. He created a classic look with his blue shirt and burgundy tie. You can’t argue with the classics.

Michael B. Jordan: The new kid on the Hollywood block knows how to get it done! The ‘That Awkward Moment’ star paired his black Gucci suit with a burgundy shirt and silver tie for the perfect amount of pizzazz for a luncheon event. A Piaget timepiece and Burberry Prorsum shoes completed the look.

Bradley Cooper attended the New York Film Critics Circle Awards Ceremony alongside Cate Blanchett and Octavia Spencer on Monday (January 6) at The Edison Ballroom in New York City.

Continuing to wear an overcoat as part of his red carpet look, the newly clean-shaven actor wore a Gucci grey checked notch-lapel two-button ‘Marseille’ suit with a white dress shirt, charcoal knit tie and black leather lace-ups.

Menswear Roundup

Menswear Roundup

Here is a quick menswear roundup.

Bradley Cooper: Joining a host of lovely ladies on the red carpet at the 2013 Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala, the actor continued his impeccable red carpet run wearing a classic Tom Ford suit. While the likes of Adam Lambert continue to pique my interesting with off-beat suits, there is nothing quite like a traditional suit and bow tie that is guaranteed to make me swoon.

David Gandy: The handsome model joined Kylie Minogue at Dolce & Gabbana’s Bond Street store for their London Collections: Men Event. Smouldering, as he does, David wore a Dolce & Gabbana three-piece suit with a luxe velvet blazer with satin lapels styled with a grey tie and brown shoes for an interesting twist.

Michael B Jordan: The actor, who still needs to work on his red carpet pose, attended the Santa Barbara International Film Festival’s 8th Annual Kirk Douglas Award For Excellence In Film Gala on Sunday (January 5) in Santa Barbara, California wearing a shawl-collar-lapel Hugo Boss suit with Christian Louboutin ‘New Platers’ flats.

Idris Elba: The British actor joined his ‘Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom’ co-star, Naomie Harris, on the red carpet for the 2014 Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala also wearing a traditional suit and bow tie. He also wore Louboutins; opting for the tassel accented ‘Dada’ flats.

In this sea of black suits who stands out for you?

Best Dressed Of The Week – Rooney Mara In Lanvin & Bradley Cooper In Vivienne Westwood & Todd Snyder

Best Dressed Of The Week - Rooney Mara In Lanvin & Bradley Cooper In Vivienne Westwood & Todd Snyder

For the second week in a row, we picked the same best dressed.

As much as I was longing to give this win to Anna Kendrick, Rooney Mara’s Lanvin white sculptural gown was breathtaking: the only look to give me goosebumps this week.

Bradley Cooper’s Vivienne Westwood Man/Todd Snyder rugged sexy grey winter look stood out for me even though blue seemed to be the menswear trend of last week.
