Meryl Streep In Marni – ‘Suffragette’ LA Premiere

Meryl Streep In Marni - ‘Suffragette’ LA Premiere

Meryl Streep joined Carey Mulligan for the premiere of ‘Suffragette’ at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater on Tuesday (October 20) in Beverly Hills, California.

The actress continued her love affair with all things Marni, wearing a beautiful dress where the colourful print is enhanced by the black background.

Meryl styled the look with Marni statement earrings and a Clare V clutch which made the loudest statement with lettering that spelt out ‘Votes’.

First of all I want to qualify my comments by saying I am 59 so I am not being ageist. I also wear a lot of Marni. The thing is at this age Marni can look great but when styled properly which means we can’t wear it head to toe like a younger woman can. The boots and earrings and necklace are all too much. Also the dress is too long. If styled correctly Marni on my age group can look both elegant and fun but styled like this she looks like a crazy woman who owns keeps cats

My ears are hurting just from looking at this. As are my eyes in fact.

Hair and makeup are great, Dress is a flattering cut, beautifully fitted and an interesting colours that complement Meryl’s colouring. The earrings and clutch are fun, and the boots a minor (and probably relatively comfortable) part of the whole assemble. It’s a thumbs up from me: Meryl is looking good and evidently feeling much more comfortable on the red carpet these days, and given her stature as an actress it’s right that she feels that way.

Trade those ugly boots for some simple black shoes, take those earrings and that clutch away and this is perfection on her. Too bad.

I’m not really sure what to think of this. I guess the dress is nice for her, but I don’t like the earrings or the shoes.

She looks cute, but I can’t get past those earrings…no no no
