Most Worn Brand 2014 – Louis Vuitton

Most Worn Brand 2014 - Louis Vuitton

Hardly a day has passed in the fashion universe when the Louis Vuitton letters have been missing from the red carpet. The constellation of stars who wore the venerable French label are as numerable and varied as the ensembles themselves.

Call it a mild obsession among the celebrity set.

Among the devotees who pulled off the edgier, fashion-forward statements were Nicole Kidman in a custom, floral-embellished red gown, along with French beauty Adèle Exarchopoulos in full-on flower-power mode. Likewise Julianne Moore upped the ante and the edge factor in her burgundy leather top and sparkling, spiral skirt, also custom. Even designer Victoria Beckham stepped foot out of her own eponymous label for Louis Vuitton, wearing a more mannish vest and trousers combo.

The most dedicated darlings of the brand—and really, to its designer, Nicolas Ghesquière—were rarely, if at all, dressed without that LV monogram on the tags, even favouring the more eccentric Spring 2015 collection on many occasions. Charlotte Gainsbourg tops the list of Nicolas’s most faithful, often donning the top-to-toe runway looks or custom-made creations like a two-piece, sequin gown at the Venice Film Festival.

Jennifer Connelly was right at her heels, as she plucked out look after LV look, including a particularly interesting trompe l’oeil mini and lace tights. Michelle Williams drank the designer Kool-Aid, too, stepping outside her standard style in outfits including a white leather dress, whimsically printed in lipsticks, nail polish, eyelash curlers and the like.

We may not have always liked what Louis was dishing out—especially not those leg-stumping ankle boots. But there’s no denying that 2014 was a power year for the powerful brand.
