Cate Blanchett In Givenchy – 3rd Annual AACTA Awards

Cate Blanchett In Givenchy - 3rd Annual AACTA Awards

Having attended the AACTA International Awards earlier this month in LA, Cate Blanchett arrived at the 3rd Annual AACTA Awards Ceremony held at The Star on Thursday (January 30) in Sydney, Australia.

Wearing her second Givenchy look this awards season, the Australian actress displayed a little more cleavage than usual, wearing her glitzy sequined mahogany-and-gold Givenchy Spring 2014 sleeveless gown with a plunging neckline, leather trims at the arm openings and waist, and a pleated skirt.

Her stop-and-stare look was styled with gold sandals, silver earrings and a sweeping updo.

I was starting to think Cate was losing her edge, but this is more like the Cate Blanchett I know and love. Edgy, yet feminine and elegant. This is my favourite look from her this awards season.

    Bold, chic and special
    As usual
    I love this

    • Martin January 30, 2014 at 08:23 #

      Totally agree.

This is not my favourite look from her this season (that honour belongs to the Armani Prive at the Globes, which I thought balanced the elegant and the edgy – that low-cut back! – quite beautifully). Still, she looks gorgeous.

      • dee January 30, 2014 at 15:54 #

        I agree.

    • François BRESMAL January 30, 2014 at 09:06 #

I LOVE this too! Cate & Givenchy is a 1000% winning combo

  2. Alina January 30, 2014 at 08:24 #

I don’t find this very flattering, plus I do not like the length of the dress.

    • kane January 30, 2014 at 09:25 #

Definitely agree about the length. Wish we wouldn’t be able to see the shoes. Other than that, though, I’m totally on board!

    • Princess Chi Chi January 30, 2014 at 12:07 #

The fit looks off, but i am relatively pleased with the look.

    • Yeliz January 30, 2014 at 17:36 #

ITA with you Alina. The fit is off and I don’t like the length either.

  3. Laura January 30, 2014 at 08:28 #

Wow! Amazing! A “stop-and-stare look”, like you say (I like this expression!)And her make up and hair always looks so beautiful!

  4. Alex January 30, 2014 at 09:12 #

Amazing! Wonderful! Long may the Queen reign!

  5. Charlotte January 30, 2014 at 09:21 #

I love the hair and the make up but I realy don’t like the dress.
    Still, she looks great !

  6. Laura January 30, 2014 at 09:27 #

Gorgeous. So different. The tones are very ‘outback chic’. Lara Bingle take note!

  7. SilentVisitor January 30, 2014 at 09:55 #

The dress itself is beautiful but the fit is so unflattering around her bust. She needs support….

      +2 my thoughts exactly

  8. Pedro January 30, 2014 at 10:32 #

    That’s what i call perfection!

    BDOTW for sure

  9. Christine January 30, 2014 at 10:47 #

This is exquisite! She looks beyond gorgeous. Definitely a top look!

  10. Annel January 30, 2014 at 10:57 #

Omg. I love this. She plays edge, elegance and glam so well.

  11. Valissa January 30, 2014 at 11:45 #

Ahhh I have been waiting patiently for somebody to wear this on the red carpet! I should’ve known that it was going to be Cate and once again she doesn’t disappoint!
This is gorgeous and the dress is amazing! Up close it might seem a little unflattering around the bust area but it doesn’t ruin the over-all look.

  12. Jones19 January 30, 2014 at 12:20 #

Nobody wears Givenchy like queen Kate.

    • Hanna January 30, 2014 at 17:02 #

Yes, it is like she was born to wea couture like this.

  13. Anne January 30, 2014 at 13:13 #

I love this from top to bottom! I think if this had been floor-length it would have taken the gown into a too serious direction. As it is, the plunge and the ankle-length keep this edgy and fresh. Perfect makeup and tousled up-do complement, but don’t compete. One of my favorite red carpet looks in 2014 thus far!

  14. Markness January 30, 2014 at 14:43 #

When I saw this collection, I was like WTF? And Kim Kardashian wore a “custom made” look inspired by this collection so I was like “this collection is impossible.” Leave it to Queen Cate to make this look glamorous. I think Riccardo should stick to dressing people like Cate, Madonna and Jessica Chastain. He’s always at his best there. Always glamorous, chic and not trashy.

  15. from-chitown January 30, 2014 at 14:57 #

On first look I was blown away. The colors are gorgeous and the make up and hair is beautiful. But as I look at it more, I see the fit issues at the bust and the length shud have been a little longer. I know these are minor issues but this is Cate Blanchett we are talking about. Nevertheless, she looks beautful!

  16. Tatiana January 30, 2014 at 15:32 #

Now this is a show-stopper in every sense of the word. She looks really gorgeous in that dress. I love the color combination and how she keep simple with everything else. My best dressed od the week by far.

  17. Grace January 30, 2014 at 15:37 #

She has worn almost this entire collection by now and I’m loving it as it is so her style. I don’t know how she manages to look so classy yet super sexy at the same time.

  18. Nat39 January 30, 2014 at 15:43 #

This is also my fave look from her this awards season, and, hands down, BDOTW worthy.

  19. Charlotte January 30, 2014 at 15:54 #

Stunningly beautiful. She looks like a million bucks and so confident in this. I love that after being a little bit safe for the past weeks, she is again going for more edgy clothes.

    • Riotgurll January 30, 2014 at 18:44 #

+1! Long may the edgy cate reign!

    • Marianne January 31, 2014 at 01:21 #

      +2, I think the same.

  20. Lisa January 30, 2014 at 15:56 #

Two word: Greek Goddess. She looks perfect

  21. Rebecca Z January 30, 2014 at 16:35 #

I love the fabric of the dress and I love her hair and makeup. I don’t really like the dress, though, and I don’t think the revealing plunge and armholes are very flattering on her. But, she sells it and the color is spectacular on her.

  22. Clarissa January 30, 2014 at 16:57 #

I’m in lust with the skirt, it’s so different and dramatic (specially in others photos where it’s moving). Her body is insane and although the plunging neckline maybe too low, it’s still tasteful and works nicely with the rest. She looks very beautiful in this. BDOTW for sure.

  23. Hanna January 30, 2014 at 17:01 #

My fave look of the week but I prefer the Armani Prive she wore to the Globes, it was just gorgeous and such a fashion moment for her.

  24. Kathy January 30, 2014 at 20:22 #

This dress is a dream. What an elegant but interesting way to incorporate sparkle. It’s refreshing but age-appropriate. BDOTW contender.

  25. Adele January 30, 2014 at 21:21 #

Simply gorgeous. She is working the hell out of this dress in such effortless way.

  26. Fiona - Perth January 30, 2014 at 23:12 #

I love that these colours are unexpected. We can never predict what she is going to wear. This gown looked amazing when she walked on stage under lights, it was stunning.

  27. Carrie January 30, 2014 at 23:30 #

WOW. So unusual – in an amazing way. Gorgeous!

  28. Marianne January 31, 2014 at 01:21 #

I love this dress. The colors, the shaping along the shoulder, the flow of the skirt, it’s artwork. She looks really great.

  29. oksana January 31, 2014 at 16:17 #

this woman is on her own league. not so much race with her

  30. Alina February 5, 2014 at 15:04 #

I think Kate Hudson wore this dress in an editorial for Harper’s Bazaar US.
