Selena Gomez In Cushnie et Ochs – 2013 Teen Choice Awards

Selena Gomez In Cushnie et Ochs - 2013 Teen Choice Awards

Selena Gomez was just one of the many starlets to take to the red carpet at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards held at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California on Sunday.

Following a summer of crop tops and shorts, the singer/actress opted for a Cushnie et Ochs Fall 2013 forest-green frock with slashed shoulders and double slits on the skirt.

I find this look so refreshing. I was honestly expecting something in a pastel hue or her formulaic shorts-and-crop-top uniform, so I’m relieved that this is the route she took.

The sexy yet minimalist look was styled with Nicholas Kirkwood beige lace pumps with a gold heel and aqua Neil Lane earrings.

Taming her wild mane, she opted for sleek centre-parted glossy tresses on this occasion.

I despise the double slit trend, but other than that she looks really good.

      +1 Well said.

Besides the shoes, I like it! The accent with the turqois earring is nice. I would have liked it more if she had done that with the shoes too. She is to young (in my opinion) for the shoes.

Surprisingly, I like this. Mostly because it doesn’t seem like she’s trying too hard.

+1 And straight hair made a huge difference to the usual cherubic curls.

I hate the shoes. The dress is nice, especially the color, even if I’m not too fond of the double split. The earrings and the nail polish are great.

She totally should have worn the runway shoes. The look would have been transformed with them… why oh why nude shoes??!

    • Mandy August 12, 2013 at 13:17 #

Agree. Those shoes would have been perfect. Other than that its a good unexpected look.

  6. Dan Oliver August 12, 2013 at 11:37 #

Yeah the shoes are a tad boring but other than that she looks amazing. I agree FC all the crop tops floral prints and pastel shades at this event get old fast.

This isn’t working for me. It doesn’t look very put together with the dress, the shoes, the nail polish and the earrings. The dress is kinda boring if you don’t dare to commit to the slits–it also might be made for walking and not standing around.

I dislike it head to toe. The slits don’t work for her at all and the “good girl” styling is all wrong for this overly sexy dress. The dramatic styling from the runway is much preferable.

  9. AnderBoBo August 12, 2013 at 13:17 #

Not a fan of the M-slits in front, hopefully that trend will not catch on as I don’t think it is flattering on anybody. Only think that’s working are the earrings.

I don’t know what people have against nude shoes and/or pumps? I tend to like them…sometimes the dress needs to do the talking without getting interrupted by a loud and colorful pair of shoes. This is the case here…I really like the dress and overall look,, she looks a lot more effortless than normal :)

  11. Linda August 12, 2013 at 13:40 #

I find this totally refreshing too, FC. It’s a sleeker silhouette and the earrings add a great pop.

  12. Christine August 12, 2013 at 13:44 #

So unexpected and I love it!

  13. dee August 12, 2013 at 13:54 #

What a drab a color and what is up with the pumps? Where are the sandals. It’s summertime.

  14. akarenm August 12, 2013 at 14:19 #

she reminds me of Chun Li… that is all I can say.

  15. Kathy August 12, 2013 at 16:32 #

    haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate it.

  16. Daisy August 12, 2013 at 17:59 #

Prefer on model. This dress is sexy overload. She pretends she’s the type but she’s not.

  17. Prudence August 12, 2013 at 18:51 #

Her shoes are so awful, has she never seen strappy sandals in her life? The dress is not doing much either, the length and the slits are just not working.

  18. Nat39 August 12, 2013 at 19:09 #

I love it, the deep color, the edgy slits, the contrasting aqua earrings and the simple sexy beige pumps. Selena looks sexy and beautiful, my 2nd fave after Nina.

  19. Magdalena August 12, 2013 at 19:47 #

I’m not a fan of hers, or her style for that matter, but I have to say I like this look.

  20. TeaAtTwo August 12, 2013 at 20:15 #

The double slits are bit tacky but I like the polished presentation of it.

  21. Sharon August 13, 2013 at 01:16 #

I love her hair and I’m so glad she controlled the slit that on the model went almost to her waist. It’s not my favorite Selena look, but it’s still a good one.

  22. KatieKate August 13, 2013 at 02:47 #

I agree, FC, very refreshing. I’m not in love with the nude lace pumps-would’ve preferred nude strappy sandals, or gold. But I love the color on her, and the contrast of the earrings. This is a sexy, grown-up look, w/o being tacky, OTT, boring, samey, try hard, or all of the other adjectives we end up using for many girls her age, looking to find their fashion identity.
