The girls have been feted for their fashionable entrances and exits at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards, hosted at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California. But there were plenty of handsome guys on the red carpet, too. That said, most of the men played it safe, taking a rather traditional approach with tuxes, all tied up with a bow (tie).
Ben Affleck: Ben was definitely the evening’s Golden boy, as he snagged the Best Director and Best Picture win for ‘Argo’—and he dressed for his double victory. His midnight blue peak lapel tuxedo from Gucci was a handsome three-piece affair, especially with the matching satin bow tie. The blue spin on the traditional tux won me over. Even his perfectly groomed facial hair wasn’t bothersome; it only added a sense of refined depth to the look.
Bradley Cooper: The Best Actor nominee for ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ went green for the red carpet with his well-tailored, black Tom Ford two-piece tux, a part of the sustainable Green Carpet Challenge. A pert bow tie topped off the dapper look.
Robert Pattinson: This ‘Twilight’ heartthrob is all grown up. The British actor impressed with his slim Gucci black peak lapel ‘Signoria’ tuxedo with white dress shirt and black satin tie, matched to black leather lace-ups. It was the picture of formality, and Robert even exchanged his standard scruffiness for a clean-shaven look for the occasion.
Denzel Washington: The Best Actor nominee wore a black Armani two-button notch lapel tuxedo with a classic white evening shirt and a black neck tie. His look was fair, although the fit of his loose jacket and baggy pant could have been better.
Keith Urban: Keith managed to hold his own up against his red-carpet date, the statuesque Nicole Kidman. To do so, he went for classic sophistication in his Prada black lana mohair tuxedo with narrow peak lapel paired with a white smoking popeline shirt, black satin bow tie and black lace-up shoes.
Damian Lewis: The British boy and Best Actor winner for ‘Homeland’ channeled the spirit of Savile Row tailoring with his slimline, head-to-toe Burberry moment. The black satin tuxedo with notch lapel, white dress shirt and, yes, another black satin bow tie, paired with the flash of black patent leather dress shoes, were completely classic.
Dev Patel: Dev kept things simple with another full-on Burberry outfit. His black grosgrain notch lapel tuxedo, white dress shirt and black grosgrain bow tie were nice, if nothing special.
John Krasinski: The actor was handsome, if overshadowed, alongside wife Emily Blunt. His charcoal grey lana seta Prada two-button tuxedo with a black satin peak lapel was worn with a white smoking piquet shirt, black satin bow tie and black lace-up shoes.
Ryan Seacreast: The red-carpet regular had one of the more interesting ensembles of the night. He took Burberry for a spin, and the grey satin three-piece notch lapel tuxedo matched to a white dress shirt, black velvet tie and black patent leather shoes, all from the designer, made him a cool co-host (and more splashily dressed than some of the guys he interviewed).

Ryan Seacreast all the way (!) for me.
+1. I really like what he is wearing too and it fits well.
+2
+3
And Ewan Mc Gregor ? He was so sexy !
yes !!!!! where is ewan?
Yes, he was. Looking at all these men I’m thinking if it’s so difficult to hem the pants in the right way. Some are too long, as R. Pattinson’s a bit too short.
Completely won over by the two scruffy ones: ben and damian. They looked so handsome.
They’re my faves too!
not wowed by any of them.
Burberry really did it’s name proud with the men this year. Damian Lewis looked fantastic and I was pleasantly surprised by Seacrest’s look. However, Pattinson, in Gucci, seems to win out over everyone in these pics.
Ben Affleck and Ryan Seacreast are the best of the bunch.
They all look pretty good, but I’m not excited. I can’t believe I’m going to pick him, but Seacrest was my favorite out of these men. He stood out. Burberry always works well on him. Pattinson’s suit is well-cut, too. Of those not featured, there was something very eye-catching about Jeremy Iron’s long coat, his vest and shoes
can you feature Eddie Redmayne and Benedict Cumberbatch? I think both of them look sensational.
Thanks for that coverage, FC, you really are awesome.
pattinson in gucci is so quirky handsome!
Would like to see men get more colorful and daring.
Keith Urban suit was Prada.
Rob Pattinson!!! What a handsome boy!!! Rob is definetly the winner this time!!! Gucci Rob Pattz!!!
Damian Lewis for me.
I like the classics and he looks so polished but so very much at ease.
I must say that is a great picture of Kidman and Urban. If there were a “best couple” category, they’d be front runners as they complement each other so well.
Ryan Seacreast definitely. Eddie Redmayne needs to be included in this bunch as well. Also while Damian Lewis tux was very classic in it style and color, I LOVED how tailored it was. I hate when men have a pool of fabric around their ankles and ill fitting baggy jacket.
I love Bradley Cooper’s traditional tux the best. Daniel Craig too. You can’t go wrong with a classic.
Ditto! And Cooper’s suit fits him beautifully which is my beef with Damian Lewis
Where’s our boy Benedict Cumberbatch? He looked amazing, both at the GG and at the Tea Party event before that (i’m still swooning over his skull tie):)
It seems that men’s fashion doesn’t seem to get as much scrutiny as the ladies, otherwise Ben, Bradley, and especially Denzel would be torn to shreds for their ill-fitting tuxedos. For Ben and Bradley at least the top half looked great (although, Ben’s vest is unnecessary), but their trousers definitely needed to be taken up. As for Denzel, the whole tux is too loose, did he not get any tailoring done?
On the bright side, RPatz looks flawfree. Damian’s outfit is tailored to perfection. And Dev’s, I love his narrow lapels.
Some ill-fitted stuff going on here. Bradley and Ryan look the best to me.
Ryan and Bradley killed it. Their suits are great and the fit is flawless
Pattinson is so overrated! He looks nice enough-for a wealthy young banker. Affeck and Lewis both looked ultra-masculine and extremely well-dressed, they are my winners
Bradley and Damian win for me. Both impeccable and with the right attitude. Too torn to pick one winner, though.
Really loving Ryan’s look, great suit and great fit. Rob also looks very dapper, his suit is perfectly tailored. I also really like Ben’s blue tux!
Just saw some pictures of the other dapper gentlemen at the Globes, Hugh Jackman is definitely my favourite! He looks absolutely amazing and so handsome!
I’m actually rather neutral when it comes to Benedict Cumberbatch, but I thought he looked FAB last night in Spencer Hart!
Seacrest. And always Pattinson.
I’m going to go with Robert & Ben on this- they both looked great IMO.
Damien and Bradley are both perfectly tailored. Can’t choose between them!
where’s eddie redmayne and ewan mcgregor?
I think it’s important to remember that there are actual rules for menswear at black tie events. The uniform you see here isn’t for lack of courage, it’s moreso respect for the event’s dress code.
Further experimentation is great at premieres or even the Grammys. At the Globes and at the Oscars, there is a box. And that doesn’t have to be a bad thing: when a tux is good, it’s good.
