The British Independent Film Awards took place at Old Billingsgate Market in London yesterday evening and were attended by Britain’s talented up-and-coming stars, plus a cute teen American actress called Elle Fanning.
I love Elle, because you never quite know what’s coming next: she can go from indie to edgy to preppy to princess-like with equal aplomb.
Last night, it was princess-like, wearing an Oscar de la Renta Spring 2013 gown.
The light-pink silk organza embroidered gown with a fitted bodice and bell-shaped skirt does an amazing job of not washing her out nor overwhelming her petite figure.
Keeping the styling super-simple and ensuring all eyes were on her fabulous dress, she opted for no makeup, nude Oscar de la Renta pumps and a slicked-back bun.

Love the choice. Makeup is as usual minimal and fresh on Elle which is great for her age and the skirt keeps this look from being too southern belle.
She looks totally washed out. This look is way too constructed for her…
She does look totally washed out to me too, her shoes aren’t working for me either.
+2 she’s drowning in the pale hues, I want to throw some red painting. Is it me or does she have larger shoulders than the model?
Love it. Elle can do no wrong in my eyes.
+1
Quite simply amazing – It’s her second clever choice from Oscar De La Renta whose clothes can, contrary to popular belief, look quite young
yet another snoozefest from one half of the fanning sisters.
I don’t like the hair and the make up !
I just wish it was a shade or two darker. Im not liking the paleness of the look, so monotone.
I agree.
Love it! very fresh and young. Maybe I just love the princess look!
I think the colour totally drains her and does not suit her colouring at all
The dress is a dream, I’m not crazy about the shoes… but she looks lovely.
I agree.
Love this dress on her, but can someone PLEASE get both Fanning girls a makeup artist, and STAT? They always look washed out, shiny and lifeless. And hundreds of flashbulbs are not forgiving.
I wholeheartedly agree.
I like the dress, but I feel she’s too young for it.
Love that she put her hair up and the dress but the shoes don’t work. Silver pointy pumps would’ve complemented the dress better.
I agree–the dress works for me but the shoes are too heavy and dull for this look.
Wish she had some color to her lips but this is gorgeous.
she is way too pale for this dress, especially with the hair, so its a no from me
The dress should have been a little darker. This color is washing her out. A little lipstick might have helped with that, but as is… too pale.
This dress is gorgeous and the sort of style I would DREAM of wearing–glad that she didn’t overdo the makeup. This is BDOTW-worthy. I much prefer Princess Elle to Quirky Elle.
Absolutely love this gown and it doesn’t wash her out. I also love that her hair was up, but I don’t like her shoes and wished that she applied at least a lipstick.
STUNNING! Love everything about this look.
Wow, this a wonderful dress and she wears it well.
She looks very stiff to me. I don’t like the hair, it makes her head look disproportionately small because she’s (relatively) sturdily built. And the dress does wash her out too. But she is still a child and has more than enough room for misses. She’s worn some amazing things and there’s still lots of time down the road. I know she’ll blossom into an impeccable lady.
Yea! I’m a little disappointed in the shoe color, but the gown is sensational. This is a princess look that I can appreciate.
I think you need dark hair for this look.
Stunning, stunning gown on the tanner-skinned model!! A little too washed out on Elle I think. A shoe change and some lipstick could have worked wonders however!
Don’t like the shoes nor the hair. I think some gorgeous waves would’ve worked much better with the gown.
