Zhang Ziyi In Georges Chakra Couture – 2012 Bazaar Charity Night

Zhang Ziyi stunned on the red carpet at the 2012 Bazaar Charity Night held in Beijing, China, on Saturday evening.

Proving that she has well and truly moved on from her ‘princess phase’, she wore an interesting cocktail dress from the Georges Chakra Fall 2012 Couture collection.

Her modern sexy, navy lace dress with intricate gold and tonal embroidered details was accented with a feathered skirt.

I’m in total lust with this look. It’s one of my favourites from a very busy weekend on the red carpet.

Giuseppe Zanotti crystallized two-tone peep-toes and a gold shell-shaped clutch accessorized her look.

Some may have been overwhelmed by all those exotic details on the dress, but Zhang’s beauty was able to shine through, even though she did decide to wear those discarded Ferrero Rocher wrapper earrings we’ve seen on Shu Qi.

Ew… those earrings are almost a deal-breaker. Take them off and she looks stunning!

Agree with the earrings. But, love her beauty in this dress.

Sorry, but I don’t share your enthusiasm with this dress on Zhang Ziyi. Although I like it very much on the model. Women with a petite frame can’t wear those type of dresses. It makes their with short arms and legs.It is like the ballerina on the top of the cake.

I do agree. There’s a lot going on with this dress, and it is not her best look. She is undoubtedly beautiful but the dress is too much, too large. The shoes are a no-go as well. The runway look balances the complexity of the dress with dark hose, shoes, and lip color, which might have worked for Zhang, as well.

It is not about height, it is about proportions. Women with petite frame can wear anything they like as long the proportions are right for their body type. In this case, the waist is too low or the golden part is too long.

I absolutely LOVE this dress! Unfortunately it doesn´t work on Zhang. She´s far too sweet for this type of dress. It fits so much better on the model, the A line is so beautiful, but it´s lost on Zhang. Instead of flowing into an A-line, the skirt suddenly explodes into a ballerina dress. Don´t like it at all. It would look so much better on somebody with more edge, perhaps also taller. Plus I would keep the sleek ponytail and the red fierce lippie.

I absolutely adore this dress! But I prefer it as seen on the runway

The dress seems a bit a tutù, but I like it, I would take off the earrings but she looks great.

OH MY GOD. The dress is to die for. Okay the earrings need to go. The color is more than amazing.

I think the dress works, though she is a tad short waisted for it which I think it why the line doesn’t work as perfectly on her as on the model–the doesn’t have quite enough midriff for the dress. My gripe is the shoes. I get where she was going, but they are too heavy in my opinion.

I am on the fence with this one. Seems a little too much.

  17. Dhppy September 3, 2012 at 23:06 #

Hmmm. The gold thunderbolts in the mid section make her look like some sort of evil princess in a 3D fantasy film. It’s a bit frenetic.

I don’t understand why this look’s hit, she looks rediculous!

  20. towanda September 5, 2012 at 00:26 #

    looks like a marchesa

  21. EmmaWoodhouse September 5, 2012 at 03:30 #

Very Marchesa! It’s a fun, eye-catching dress with some stunning details and a great color combination. I like the clutch and earrings but would have preferred a gold shoe. I wish that the skirt was more A-line, as on the runway. I also wish that she had worn her hair differently. However, as an overall look, it’s daring and fashion-forward without going over the top!
