Willow Smith In Chanel – 2012 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards

It was a family affair at the 2012 Nickelodeon Annual Kids’ Choice Awards yesterday afternoon as the Smith family took to the red carpet to support Will Smith who hosted the show.

Willow may have donned a Chanel Spring 2012 white dress, but she made the look her own with a multitude of accessories.

She added a cropped leather jacket, plus a yellow-and-black embellished collar.

Fringed Chanel boots to complement her biker jacket, white ankle socks, a shoulder bag and a hat, which covers most of her pink hair, completed her look.

Do you like Willow’s accessories, or is she trying way too hard?

        + 1,000,000. let’s be serious.

+1…there is practically nothing else to say.

  2. Zina April 1, 2012 at 13:53 #

Trying too hard, but she is also a child experimenting and having fun with fashion… so nothing wrong with that.

    • Vidhya April 2, 2012 at 05:20 #

I was just gonna say that.. I still think she is a child so I dont think she is trying too hard, i just think she was in the candy shop and didnt know what to take and what to leave!

I think Willow looked great, a lot better than what she’s worn in the past when she “stole” tiny clothes from Missy Elliott’s closet. The boots really highlighted her long legs. I don’t mind her accessories. Apparently, she likes being loud and excessive and tough. She’s still young, so I wouldn’t consider it “trying too hard.”

I think the child did OK with her accessories. Restraint in the sheer number of accessories will come with maturity. She looks age appropriate here.

    too much

  7. Pablo April 1, 2012 at 14:44 #

There is “trying hard”, then there’s “trying too hard” and then we’ve got Willow at the KCA. What an expensive mess.

  8. effieee April 1, 2012 at 14:44 #

What a waste of such a lovely Chanel dress.

    • SaraInes April 1, 2012 at 16:21 #

      Exactly my first thought.

    • SaraInes April 1, 2012 at 16:22 #

      Exatly my first thought.

  9. Felicia April 1, 2012 at 14:48 #

It could have done without the collar and jacket. Then it would have looked quirky but classy not like that random mess tbh

  10. Me April 1, 2012 at 15:01 #

I love her outfit and hair and everything else this is pretty

  11. Angela April 1, 2012 at 15:11 #

I think she overcooked it by very very far. GaGa can do excessive because at least she knows the right accessories, but Willow’s mismatch of odd accessories and pink hair= a total disaster.

  12. Carol April 1, 2012 at 15:15 #

She’s finding her way and one day will be brilliant. It just hurts to see this happen to Chanel…

  13. Leo April 1, 2012 at 15:20 #

Tries too hard. I know it’s bad to say this, but I can’t stand this kid.

  14. conchitabocanegrita09 April 1, 2012 at 15:43 #

Can she not just go to a kind of life that is best suited for her age instead of ‘flagellating’ herself in front of the cameras and gasping for a career that is absolutely not intended for her age as a teen-age girl. Whatever she wears, whatever she tries to do she is a little girl that is a victim of disillusioned parents. She must be in high school and must bury her nose on a teen ideology not Entertainment ideologyteenideology, not

  15. bee7 April 1, 2012 at 16:02 #

would have been better without the jacket i think.

  16. TeuntjeVDW April 1, 2012 at 16:17 #

Awful! She’s trying way too hard!

  17. bm April 1, 2012 at 16:46 #

She is the daughter of one of the richest couple on the planet by the way.

  18. MG April 1, 2012 at 17:45 #

    gross

  19. Jill April 1, 2012 at 17:50 #

    no sense of style whatsoever.

  20. Tami April 1, 2012 at 18:19 #

She looks adorable. It’s not a waste of a Chanel dress. She would look way too mature for her age if she wore it like the model. I personally love it. Kid appropriate fun kiddy accessories. It’s the Kids Choice Awards! Pretty soon we will be seeing this girl on the runway.

    • SilentVisitor April 1, 2012 at 21:00 #

      +100

  21. Rebecca Z April 1, 2012 at 19:21 #

She looks cute, though I agree it is a waste of a lovely Chanel dress.

  22. Mads April 1, 2012 at 19:51 #

At the end of the day she’s just a child – a rich one whose parents seem determined that she carve out a career instead of enjoying her young, carefree days – and for that reason I’ll say she looks like a kid let loose in Mummy’s wardrobe – seems cruel for me to criticise an 11 y/o on her outfit/hair etc. If I were still 11, I’d probably wear something similar and think I looked fabulous!

  23. robbie April 1, 2012 at 20:23 #

this girl has just ruined one of the nicest pieces from the collection. i have seen tramps with more style than her.

    • Ade April 1, 2012 at 21:14 #

OH MY GOD, She is 11 years old. She has no style, she’s a little girl who is experimenting with her look and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. Sure it’s a very busy look that obviously she only understands but “I have seen tramps with more style than her”……really?

  24. Baylee April 1, 2012 at 20:49 #

What up with Willow Smiths head!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????? A HOT MESS! MORE LIKE AN UGLY MESS!!!!!

  25. Aline April 1, 2012 at 22:08 #

This look is a total mess but I can’t help but feel amused. I’ve just googled her and found out that she’s 11. Just eleven. It’s okay for her to dress like this. I mean, it’s one of those moments that she will look back when she’s 20 and be completely embarrased of herself. Just like all of us have. It’s not because she’s a famous kind that she won’t get some of those.

So yeah, I’m giving her a pass.

  26. Christine April 1, 2012 at 22:21 #

I am torn. On one hand, I love that she is having fun with fashion. She is young–so why not? Life is short and what better time to start having fun with fashion!

On the other hand, I wish we can the dress without the added extra stuff. It looks a bit messy.

    SO I am torn. LOL.

  27. Christine April 1, 2012 at 22:21 #

    We can see the dress*

  28. Riley April 2, 2012 at 00:32 #

I understand that Willow is young, rich and from a famous family, which means she has access to Chanel and the runway at such a young age, much why cover up the dress? The edgy boots and jacket would be enough to Willow Smithify her look. Everything else, in all fairness, is too much.

  29. Liana April 2, 2012 at 03:20 #

FC, do you know if the dress was custom made for Willow? Because it doesn’t really look like the one on the left from the Chanel collection (fabric, style, fit).

    • Fashion Critic April 2, 2012 at 13:19 #

      I don’t know.

Maybe it’s the commercial version of the dress.

  30. Ange April 2, 2012 at 05:25 #

    Try hard!

  31. Jess2 April 2, 2012 at 08:05 #

this is how to ruin Chanel! not impressed

  32. manja April 2, 2012 at 11:37 #

she is 11,so i don’t care about her “style” or absance of it.what cought my eye that she is copy of her father, she looks like him so much

  33. Emi April 2, 2012 at 16:47 #

One word: ridiculous. And she looks like a boy.

  34. Rory April 2, 2012 at 17:15 #

I have to say I am VERY disappointed with commentators on this blog ridiculing a 10 year old child on her fashion choices!? Saddos. Get a life! Not saying I like it or dislike it, my thing is – she is a child and I am an adult why would I write horrible things about her on the internet? This world we live in…..never ceases to amaze me.

    • Emi April 2, 2012 at 18:40 #

I think that the fact that she performs and sings and does videos and red carpets instead of going to school is worse than all these comments. And we’re talking about fashion and clothes, and she was on a red carpet, that’s why we’re commenting.

      • Fashion Critic April 2, 2012 at 18:44 #

        I agree with you Emi.

Her parents have willing put her on the red carpet and in the public eye, so they and no one else should then start saying that we shouldn’t talk about her.

I have never understood why Will and Jada didn’t wait for her to be at least 16 before putting her in the public eye.

        What was the hurry?

  35. LOLA April 2, 2012 at 18:43 #

Ok, she looks ridiculous but at least, she’s a child and doesn’t try to look chic. She’s experimenting with fashion. I hope that she’ll never try to look at her mother as a style icon

  36. Ingrid April 2, 2012 at 20:01 #

it does seem a shame to wear chanel and cover it up with so much stuff! and she did go a bit overboard – it is a bit of a mess! but she is young and it is the age to experiment so all good i guess :)

  37. erin April 4, 2012 at 23:56 #

shes 12! i think shes trying to find her own style and all that and this is probably my favorite look from her. she’s adorable and i totally want her pink hair.
