It was a family affair at the 2012 Nickelodeon Annual Kids’ Choice Awards yesterday afternoon as the Smith family took to the red carpet to support Will Smith who hosted the show.
Willow may have donned a Chanel Spring 2012 white dress, but she made the look her own with a multitude of accessories.
She added a cropped leather jacket, plus a yellow-and-black embellished collar.
Fringed Chanel boots to complement her biker jacket, white ankle socks, a shoulder bag and a hat, which covers most of her pink hair, completed her look.

Trying too hard, but she is also a child experimenting and having fun with fashion… so nothing wrong with that.
I was just gonna say that.. I still think she is a child so I dont think she is trying too hard, i just think she was in the candy shop and didnt know what to take and what to leave!
I think Willow looked great, a lot better than what she’s worn in the past when she “stole” tiny clothes from Missy Elliott’s closet. The boots really highlighted her long legs. I don’t mind her accessories. Apparently, she likes being loud and excessive and tough. She’s still young, so I wouldn’t consider it “trying too hard.”
I think the child did OK with her accessories. Restraint in the sheer number of accessories will come with maturity. She looks age appropriate here.

Can she not just go to a kind of life that is best suited for her age instead of ‘flagellating’ herself in front of the cameras and gasping for a career that is absolutely not intended for her age as a teen-age girl. She looks adorable. It’s not a waste of a Chanel dress. She would look way too mature for her age if she wore it like the model. I personally love it. Kid appropriate fun kiddy accessories. It’s the Kids Choice Awards! Pretty soon we will be seeing this girl on the runway.

At the end of the day she’s just a child – a rich one whose parents seem determined that she carve out a career instead of enjoying her young, carefree days – and for that reason I’ll say she looks like a kid let loose in Mummy’s wardrobe – seems cruel for me to criticise an 11 y/o on her outfit/hair etc. If I were still 11, I’d probably wear something similar and think I looked fabulous!

This look is a total mess but I can’t help but feel amused. I’ve just googled her and found out that she’s 11. Just eleven. It’s okay for her to dress like this. I mean, it’s one of those moments that she will look back when she’s 20 and be completely embarrased of herself. Just like all of us have. It’s not because she’s a famous kind that she won’t get some of those.
So yeah, I’m giving her a pass.
I am torn. On one hand, I love that she is having fun with fashion. She is young–so why not? Life is short and what better time to start having fun with fashion!
On the other hand, I wish we can the dress without the added extra stuff. It looks a bit messy.

I understand that Willow is young, rich and from a famous family, which means she has access to Chanel and the runway at such a young age, much why cover up the dress? The edgy boots and jacket would be enough to Willow Smithify her look. Everything else, in all fairness, is too much.
FC, do you know if the dress was custom made for Willow? Because it doesn’t really look like the one on the left from the Chanel collection (fabric, style, fit).

I have to say I am VERY disappointed with commentators on this blog ridiculing a 10 year old child on her fashion choices!? Saddos. Get a life! Not saying I like it or dislike it, my thing is – she is a child and I am an adult why would I write horrible things about her on the internet? This world we live in…..never ceases to amaze me.
I think that the fact that she performs and sings and does videos and red carpets instead of going to school is worse than all these comments. And we’re talking about fashion and clothes, and she was on a red carpet, that’s why we’re commenting.

Her parents have willing put her on the red carpet and in the public eye, so they and no one else should then start saying that we shouldn’t talk about her.
I have never understood why Will and Jada didn’t wait for her to be at least 16 before putting her in the public eye.

it does seem a shame to wear chanel and cover it up with so much stuff! and she did go a bit overboard – it is a bit of a mess! but she is young and it is the age to experiment so all good i guess
