Julianne Moore In Tom Ford – ‘Game Change’ Washington Premiere

Julianne Moore’s next stop in promoting her TV movie ‘Game Change’ was Washington, DC yesterday evening.

As you know, I love redheads wearing green, but the usually failsafe formula failed on this occasion.

Miserably.

I really dislike the velvet sleeves on her Tom Ford silk cowl-neck dress.

Once again, this could’ve been a great look had it just been stripped down and presented in a more basic manner.

Julianne’s accessories included a gold Judith Leiber clutch and gold sandals.

A towering bouffant and kohl-rimmed eyes completed her look.

Do you love or loathe this look?

The sleeves are definitely off, but I like the overall colour of the outfit and the sultry yet fresh, clean simplicity of her makeup.

      +1

  2. Alina March 9, 2012 at 13:35 #

    The velvet kills it.

  3. Carolina Roq March 9, 2012 at 13:37 #

    She is sabotaging herself… consistently.

    • Fashion Critic March 9, 2012 at 13:39 #

      Total agreement.

I think she doesn’t have a say in what she is wearing. She goes along with what ever is selected for her.

      • noo March 9, 2012 at 19:25 #

i think she should detach herself from tom ford and aber elbaz completely

  4. cedric March 9, 2012 at 13:39 #

I do not know but the latest collections of tom ford, I find particularly annoying, banal, and not as strong erotic or flashy as his publicity photos or their personality, if he could put the same energy, the same eroticism
fc if you the chance to see it, you can tell him that?? to change a bit, put a little pep, to do true tom ford, or I can do to help

Terrible dress… it is ugly! And does she not notice it? It is a pity for her, so beautiful and nice woman…

  6. Rebecca Z March 9, 2012 at 13:49 #

Agree the sleeves are the problem–the color would have been okay if they were a much lighter fabric and didn’t puff up at the top. Sad–she is such a gorgeous woman.

  7. EmmaWoodhouse March 9, 2012 at 14:08 #

Great color, hair & makeup and accessories. Despite the styling, the whole look is an epic fail. That dress is a fashion felony!

  8. Ali March 9, 2012 at 14:25 #

Not going to lie – I actually love it. On anyone else I think it would be horrible

    • Linda March 9, 2012 at 14:58 #

Me too…as usual with her, it took me a few moments to really see it as a whole and to appreciate it.

    • Merrie March 9, 2012 at 15:08 #

I think she really looks great

    • bee7 March 9, 2012 at 16:13 #

    • SkirtTheIssue March 10, 2012 at 00:39 #

      I love it too!

      • ladyoflettuce March 10, 2012 at 22:57 #

She’s one of few American women who can do sexy without looking like a stripper. I love her.

    • Snowlion March 14, 2012 at 23:09 #

      Same, she looks fab!

I thought Tom Ford said he didn’t really want his clothes worn on the red carpet so people wouldn’t get bored of the clothes hence also the reason for him also delaying the public seeing pictures of the collection, yet this is the second look we have saw on the red carpet in only a couple weeks.

  10. Sophie March 9, 2012 at 14:34 #

It’s such a shame: she’s so beautiful and always wears these nightmares… >.<

  11. Carolyn March 9, 2012 at 14:35 #

Hate it! It would have been such a lovely dress without the sleeves!

    • Jennifer H-K March 9, 2012 at 15:28 #

      You are totally right!!

  12. dee March 9, 2012 at 14:47 #

I don’t like the sleeves and it is too low in the front.

  13. Sharon March 9, 2012 at 15:06 #

I’ve gotten to the point where I cringe when I see her name in the headline, even before I scroll down to see the photo. And this case is no different. I wonder why beautiful women like Julianne and Christine Hendricks don’t pay attention to the clothing they are given on their TV shows. They are dressed in designs that are flattering to their figures on those shows, yet both of them appear on the red carpet in awful dresses like this one. What a waste of a beautiful woman.

    • mm March 9, 2012 at 15:34 #

good point. This look caption should read “three peaks”

  14. Nat March 9, 2012 at 15:50 #

I would love this without those sleeves. Or even just with a different pair of sleeves.

  15. J March 9, 2012 at 15:59 #

Eek! She’s been a disaster on the RC for a long while now. Did she not check a mirror before she left?

  16. Katey March 9, 2012 at 16:00 #

I love the sleeves. Forme this is BDOTW worthy.

  17. Moxie March 9, 2012 at 16:56 #

The dress and the sleeves just don’t go together.

  18. Paul McLauchlan March 9, 2012 at 17:58 #

    <3

  19. Lou March 9, 2012 at 20:23 #

Oh dear – sleeves, cowl neckline and posture let Julianne down here

  20. Tiffany Nicole March 9, 2012 at 21:45 #

where did she go? She used to be IT. Now it’s just hopeless it seems.

  21. Serena March 9, 2012 at 22:21 #

I hate the sleeves and the shoes, and I wish she had chosen a darker shade of green. Somehow, nothing works in this look, which is a crying shame because she’s lovely.

  22. rath March 9, 2012 at 22:50 #

What! She looks amazing! She’s so pretty and in such good shape (especially for someone in their 50s) that she can pull anything off!

  23. Chloe March 9, 2012 at 23:08 #

    LOVE LOVE LOVE

  24. pipsqueak March 10, 2012 at 01:29 #

Loathe. The shoulders are too much for her height. Lime green doesn’t go well with her red hair. She looked like The Riddler, Jim Carrey’s character in Batman Forever.

  25. dressaddict March 10, 2012 at 07:45 #

I love the dress, without the sleeves it woul’ve been blaaah, baut the velvet adds something quirky about the whole look. I love it!

  26. ramsay March 10, 2012 at 13:29 #

I actually like this dress – It’s so very Tom Ford -And we have seen this before from him and we’ll see it again – I wish she has a stronger make-up on – And I agree something is off and I’m not sure it’s only the make-up

  27. Parvati March 10, 2012 at 17:40 #

I hate this look. The sleeves look really weird and that shade of green doesn’t look that good.

  28. FChew March 11, 2012 at 00:41 #

I think the sleeves would work better if they are not velvet…maybe a darker shade of green or another color made with the same fabric.
Tom Ford has been churning out ’80s Dynasty-like outfits of late, some works (like the peplum-style dress Jennifer Aniston wore to her premiere), but mostly heavy and aging.

  29. manja March 12, 2012 at 09:46 #

sort of like it,her face is gorgeous

  30. The.Shoe.Freak March 21, 2012 at 12:28 #

I think she looks absolutely amazing. The dress is gorgeous and the sleeves make the dress. The contrast between the 2 fabrics is great. The color is great on her skin tone and emphasizes her redhead and pale conplexion. Beautiful.

Sorry she doesnt wear Elie Saab but no reason to knock a fabulous look. She always looks graceful and she’s always bold and avant-garde in her choices. She is what fashion is all about and never boring.

    • Fashion Critic March 21, 2012 at 12:50 #

Sorry but your comment is incredibly childish.

I dislike it because I dislike it and I have given reasons why.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that it’s not Elie Saab. I mean..really??? Geez.
