    My top 5:
    1. Octavia Spencer
    2. Gwyneth P
    3. Milla J
    4. Tina Fey
    5. Penelope Cruz
Why neither Angelina nor Octavia are in the poll… it’s a shame. Lovely coverage though of a kind of blah Oscarnight.

  3. nicole February 27, 2012 at 19:23 #

where is j-lo? she looked beyond

  4. Stephanie February 27, 2012 at 19:11 #

I recognize that Gwyneth really brings a unique factor, but I just can’t love the cape. for some reason it makes me think “vatican” and “priest”. I voted for Milla, she was perfection from head to toe!

  5. dee February 27, 2012 at 18:31 #

My favorites Milla, Gwyneth, Jessica and Rooney.

  6. TeaAtTwo February 27, 2012 at 18:30 #

Thanks for the superb coverage during awards season. Just wish the celebs wowed me as much as your work ethic, attention to details and jocular writing.

    • Fashion Critic February 27, 2012 at 19:13 #

      you are very kind.

      Thanks for your support

  7. Nat39 February 27, 2012 at 18:18 #

I’m lost, very unimressive. Stacy Keibler stands out, Milla Jovovivch runner-up.

  8. Mario February 27, 2012 at 17:54 #

Gwynnie shut it down for me. There is always that one person of the night that I completely love (Cate last year, Zoe the year before) that puts everybody else in the shadow. And I am really glad that Gwyneth was that person this year!
And I have to agree about the red carpet being super dull this year. I mean Oscars are known for being boring when it comes to red carpet choices but this year it was a total snoozefest.

  9. Eline February 27, 2012 at 16:49 #

Really nothing special about Penelope and Cameron
Gwyneth Paltrow is very refreshing and standing out in a good way
Whether Jessica Chastain wear McQueen or Givenchy, she ruined the gown
Emma Stone totally overshadowed by Nicole Kidman’s iconic look, did she know that they are not even in the same league
Never a fan of Natalie, the dotted print makes her adress even worse
No doubt Rooney go for Givenchy, but not her best look ever
Michelle wore color and took risk this time, still boring

  10. bas February 27, 2012 at 16:37 #

    Amazing coverage FC!! 🙂
I really missed Cate Blanchett on the red carpet last night.

    • Fashion Critic February 27, 2012 at 16:56 #

      thank you x

  11. Nirina February 27, 2012 at 16:31 #

yes i’m disappointed Angelina Jolie wasn’t in the poll. she is my Best Dressed for the night!! she looks amazing!

  12. Lily Rangel February 27, 2012 at 16:22 #

Were the hell is Angelina Jolie?

    • SilentVisitor February 27, 2012 at 17:23 #

apparently not there…..why is it so hard to understand????????

  13. MsDivaMom February 27, 2012 at 16:16 #

Is there another poll somewhere? Are these all the choices? *confused face*

  14. Juliana February 27, 2012 at 16:08 #

    I’m so disappointed.
This must have been the most boring Oscars ever. All the dresses seemed like deja vu to me…

    • Carolina Roq February 27, 2012 at 19:01 #

  15. pipsqueak February 27, 2012 at 15:57 #

Michelle wins for me. She’s tiny, quiet and delicate, so she didn’t grab as much attention. That Louis Vuitton gown was gorgeous, and she’d the perfect “LV by Marc Jacobs” girl. Looks like Gwyneth may win. I’ll be happy, too. She did Tom Ford justice. I can’t wait to read about her red carpet preps on GOOP! When Ford returned to womenswear last year, we all wondered who’d wear it best on the red carpet. Julianne Moore? Well, nobody beats Gwyn.

  16. Moxie February 27, 2012 at 15:51 #

    1) Gwyneth Paltrow
    2) Milla Jovovich
    3) Jessica Chastain
    4) Octavia Spencer
    5) Natalie Portman

  17. Mol February 27, 2012 at 15:39 #

I thought Natalie, Milla and Gwynneth all dressed in a way that totally suited their personalities and figures. I suppose Gyynneth had the biggest wow factor with her cape, but I have to go with Natalie’s simple understated look. I feel like the choices this year are between lots of well dressed women, with no real ‘oh my god’ stand out moments, although perhaps Gynneth’s cape will stick in people’s memory….in any case, your totally on point critiques F.C. were the only real pleasures of an otherwise somewhat bland night…….

  18. Azur February 27, 2012 at 15:30 #

That Tom Ford does not look good on video. Givenchy win for me

  19. Jones19 February 27, 2012 at 15:21 #

Michelle Williams for me. That burnt orange Louis Vuitton was amazing.

  20. Jessica February 27, 2012 at 15:01 #

Thanks for the great coverage!! I think I refreshed the page over a million times tonight! I am sad about the fact that there were no wow moments ala Zoe Saldana at the 2010 oscars 🙁 … maybe next year

  21. Katey February 27, 2012 at 15:01 #

Where’s Angelina? She was a total perfection.

  22. k February 27, 2012 at 14:45 #

So glad you had all my favorites (except Octavia Spencer, but I totally understand). I’ve been reading other sites and being all, no! u r wrong, Rose Byrne was not worst dressed! Thank you for your excellent poll choices. 🙂

  23. EmmaWoodhouse February 27, 2012 at 14:45 #

My favorites were Penelope and Jessica, who wore two of the most beautiful dresses I’ve ever seen. Emma Stone and Octavia Spencer rounded it out for me, with an honorable mention for Glenn Close, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Natalie Portman. I know a lot of people say it was underwhelming but I thought there were a lot of great looks! 🙂

  24. MJ February 27, 2012 at 14:42 #

It’s a joke! Really. Where is Angelina? You thought that you wrote super funny comments regarding her appearance at the red carpet. Being a fashion critic means: professionalism. Let’s forget about the wrong pose (it’s not so important anyway)and focus on the gown, shoes, make-up and hair!
I am really sorry to say it but you like criticising people over too much.
    Be professional

    • Fashion Critic February 27, 2012 at 15:16 #

Oh my god, you are too funny. You obviously lack a sense of humour.

Pose aside the dress was way too big for her, ill-fitted, boring and dare I say ugly for an Atelier Versace gown.

Add in the fact the she was totally wasted and her ugly performance both on the red carpet and whilst presenting she didn’t deserve to be considered as best dressed.

She was a total embarrassment and how Brad let her leave the house in that intoxicated state I will never understand.

      • Azur February 27, 2012 at 15:31 #

      • Matt R February 27, 2012 at 17:03 #

I back you up 100% FC.

MJ – The fact that FC didn’t put her true opinion on the post and only focused on the clothes (and the humor in the Blake Lively comment) shows both professionalism and restraint in her role as a FASHION blogger. I thought Angelina was sexy as hell but she was a tad OTT (a la Lea Michele at the SAGs) and I personally didn’t like the dress itself. Not only that, but I have been reading this blog for almost a couple years now, and I have seen FC be nothing but professional, honest and showcase a high quality work ethic in something she is passionate about. The fact that you said what you did shows that you have a lack of respect for someone who is busting her ass for not only herself but for us fellow readers. In other words MJ, grow up.

Thanks FC for everything. You are amazing!

        • Fashion Critic February 27, 2012 at 17:05 #

Wow Matt. Thanks for having my back.

I’m truly humbled by your comment. Thank you x

          • Matt R February 27, 2012 at 17:38 #

You are quite welcome. Your hard work definitely doesn’t go unnoticed and I can’t wait to see more updates and to see the site grow.

      • SilentVisitor February 27, 2012 at 17:20 #

totally agree with you FC. that dress was ugly and her pose made it trashy…….I could not believe it was an Atelier Versace……….

  25. Hannah February 27, 2012 at 14:36 #

I honestly couldn’t decide, it was a pretty levle playing field for me, But I voted Jessica. I also loved Penelope, which is a rarity for me, and Octavia, as well as Stacy & Milla.
I’m surprised that Gwyneth got so much love. I thought she looked good, but the cape and the hair was a tad to nineties for me personally, but I think I have to let it grow on me.

  26. Aline February 27, 2012 at 14:07 #

This was such a disappointing red carpet. I’m actually sad. But anyway, I’m going with Penelope.

    • Linda February 27, 2012 at 16:23 #

I know – me too! There were so many gorgeous gowns to choose from! There must enormous pressure on the ladies to get it right, so I can understand the reluctance to take a risk, but it’s too bad. The after party gowns are better.

  27. Sasha February 27, 2012 at 14:05 #

FC why didn’t you cover Judy Greer? She looked amazing in Lhullier

    • Fashion Critic February 27, 2012 at 14:07 #

I can’t cover everyone. I have been blogging since 11pm last night and it is now 2pm and I still haven’t covered everyone.

      It is just not possible.

      • Sasha February 27, 2012 at 14:59 #

Sorry, I realized after I wrote that how annoying I must have sounded

        Thanks for your great coverage

  28. Carolina Roq February 27, 2012 at 13:32 #

It was a very boring and disappointing red carpet 🙁

  29. Elle February 27, 2012 at 13:22 #

LOVE LOVE LOVE Natalie Portman…so classic Hollywood…really stunning!

  30. Jennifer February 27, 2012 at 12:26 #

Seriously, bring on Cannes… this was a disappointing red carpet.

    1. Gwyneth
    2. Penelope
    3. Stacy
    4. Judith Greer (not covered, but I loved her dress.)

  31. goldfish February 27, 2012 at 12:19 #

my favourite is definitely gwyneth paltrow- but only with the cape on.. without the cape, it looks kind of boring and not that flattering…
i really liked emma stone and rose byrne too..
sadly i was disappointed with rooney mara which i absolutely love, but i wished she had gone all out on this occasion- like a spectacular colour and a different shape of a dress

    • goldfish February 27, 2012 at 12:20 #

  32. justme February 27, 2012 at 12:19 #

I went with Emma Stone. Rose Byrne was a close second.

I agree with the underwhelming vibe of it all though.

  33. Emi February 27, 2012 at 12:18 #

It’s so difficult to choose one lady, but I voted Stacy Kleiber, I love that golden dress, but they’re all incredibly well dressed. This year the Oscars fashion didn’t disappoint us, I guess.

  34. chisyelda Tan February 27, 2012 at 12:17 #

FC,you should include Missi Pyle. She looks amazing! She is one of my best.

    • Fashion Critic February 27, 2012 at 12:19 #

It is way too late for that I am afraid.

  35. Rahel February 27, 2012 at 12:16 #

Now I have seen it without the cape and I have to say that Gwyneth takes the prize for being the best dressed at the Oscars.

  36. Aussie Gal February 27, 2012 at 12:16 #

I cannot get on board with Gwyneths superman cape. Beautiful Emma was my fav in that stunning colour, with Milla a close second.

  37. Erik February 27, 2012 at 12:00 #

Voted for Jessica, she looked sensational. My best dressed of the night was Octavia Spencer though, what a pitty she’s not in this poll

  38. DP February 27, 2012 at 11:57 #

There were some nice dresses, but I sort of thought this was an incredibly dull red carpet. I was disappointed 🙁 Glenn, Jessica Chastain, Ellie Kemper, Milla and Gwyneth totally brought it, but a lot of the other dresses were so dull. Red, black and nude. I love Emma and am so glad she wore colour and an unusually detailed dress, but I couldn’t get behind that bow with Nicole and I can’t with her either. FC, did you think this red carpet was a bit disappointing?

    • Fashion Critic February 27, 2012 at 12:20 #

wasn’t wowed at all, so yes

      • Tania February 27, 2012 at 13:48 #

        +1 so disappointed 🙁

    • molly February 28, 2012 at 00:47 #

Usually I have a look that I obsess over all year, and there wasnt one this year. I was really disappointed. Where is Mila Kunis or Charlize Theron when you need them?

  39. Rahel February 27, 2012 at 11:54 #

I have to say that I’m very disappointed by these dresses. I only like a couple of them. Most dresses look so safe.

  40. olivia February 27, 2012 at 11:54 #

gwyneth my pick, she looks stunning and btw so much beautiful gown this year..yey 😀

  41. Mick February 27, 2012 at 11:42 #

My top 3 were Natalie Portman, Emma Stone (in spite of the deja vu feeling from the dress) and Rooney Mara. I really can’t get on board with all the love for Gwyneth’s outfit

  42. Nadia February 27, 2012 at 11:33 #

Gwyneth for me. She shut it down.

I was so blown away, maybe its just the fact she tied her hair up but it was spectacular.

Then Rooney second, I know people are bored of her wearing black and white but I always love it, because she knows what works for her, sometimes fashion is about sticking to what you know and like, knowing you look amazing.

  43. Estranged February 27, 2012 at 11:33 #

I wish Glenn was in this poll. She was my joint best dressed with Gwyneth.

  44. mandy February 27, 2012 at 11:31 #

    Where is Angie !!!

  45. Kyriaki-Cyprus February 27, 2012 at 11:01 #

Like I said in her post, I liked her from the moment I saw her, and after sleeping on it, I woke up and I can say for sure that Jessica Chastain was my favourite.

  46. kath February 27, 2012 at 10:58 #

Voted for Milla, but absolutely adored Glenn Close as well.
Amazing job covering the Oscars FC. You deserve a medal and a nice holiday for making it through these super hectic weeks. We all appreciate it.

  47. Ade February 27, 2012 at 10:56 #

This year was just underwhelming. No denying that everyone looked great but it was just blah. But my vote goes to Milla

  48. noo February 27, 2012 at 10:56 #

thanks for the lovely coverage FC 😀 Hope you get some rest soon!

  49. Dorothy February 27, 2012 at 10:53 #

Angelina Jolie, who I’ve rarely seen have so much fun and just looked great.

    • Ali February 27, 2012 at 13:16 #

Yes! Where is Angelina???? Surely she was 10x better than Ellie Kemper

    • Carolina Roq February 27, 2012 at 14:27 #

      Yes Angie!

    • Jess February 27, 2012 at 19:48 #

I’ve vote Angelina if she was on the list as well.

  50. anne g February 27, 2012 at 10:51 #
