2018 BAFTA Awards Red Carpet Roundup

Black gowns dominated the 2018 BAFTAs on Sunday (February 18) at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England, but the red carpet was by no means boring with celebrities showing their support for the Time’s Up movement in a wide array of striking looks.

Letitia Wright: Showing a darker side of Gucci, the ‘Black Panther’ actress, who was one of the presenters on the night, looks charming in a belted dress. The bug-like embroidery perks up the black velvet base. Some have remarked how the brands looks sometimes suffer from too many details, but this one has the balance right.

Sally Hawkins: The Best Actress in a Leading Role nominee for ‘The Shape of Water’, shone in a Ralph & Russo gown. This is a more sensual look for her with the slashes in the bodice revealing a coquettish hint of skin. I wish she played into the theme more with romantic wavy hair.

Anya Taylor-Joy: Last year’s Rising Star Award nominee embraced the sexy glamour of Dolce & Gabbana in a black lace dress and golden crown. I can already hear the chants of people wishing the skirt was lined, and I must agree.

Ruth Wilson In Calvin Klein – British Independent Film Awards 2017

After appearing to take on too much at The Fashion Awards, Ruth Wilson opted to go back to basics for the British Independent Film Awards on Sunday (December 10) on Old Billingsgate in London.

Her Calvin Klein bias-cut dress is the type of ’90s glamour that’ll never fade away.

We are used to seeing Ruth take a risk, yet simple elegance was on the cards for the evening, but she did add some intrigue with her Calvin Klein sandals and breath-taking David Morris earrings.

Do you like this softer approach, or do you want to see a return of Ruth’s daredevil style?

Ruth Wilson In Erdem – The Fashion Awards 2017

Ruth Wilson attended The Fashion Awards on Monday (December 4) in London.

The actress has never been a fashion follower, so I admire her for not going down the big gown route, however, I didn’t find this Erdem Spring 2018 look flattering.

We all know Ruth likes to take risks, and I usually applaud them in any form, but this is a no from me – especially with those shoes.

Hammer Museum Gala In The Garden

The Hammer Museum Gala in the Garden was hosted on Saturday (October 14) in LA, with a crush of beauties in attendance—and all outfitted in one of the night’s leading supporters, Bottega Veneta.

Emmy Rossum: Looking nearly impossibly elegant, Emmy stunned in a Fall 2017 gown that beautifully shimmered with its gunmetal metallic plisse design. I love how her red lip and refined waves imbued another element of classic allure to the striking look.

Priyanka Chopra: I liked the softer palette of this Bottega Veneta Spring 2018 ensemble, but the creamy-white pumps let the look down.

Sarah Jessica Parker: This Resort 2018 gown was a rather subdued look for the likes of SJP.

Ruth Wilson In Christian Dior – ‘How To Talk To Girls At Parties’ London Film Festival Party

Prior to the ‘Dark River’ premiere, Ruth Wilson attended the ‘How To Talk To Girls At Parties’ London Film Festival party on Friday (October 6).

This look may not have stepped onto the runway, but one only needs to look at the sheerness of the skirt and the colourful embroidery inspired by experimental artist Niki de Saint Phalle to know this hailed from the Dior Spring 2018 collection.

Ruth has always been the daredevil of the Dior family, and I have enjoyed seeing her fearless approach, but I can’t support this from the waist down.

Some sheer looks I can get on board with, but this isn’t shocking or intriguing.

It lacks finesse and the granny panties are way too stark in colour to work with this look.

Ruth Wilson In Schiaparelli Couture – ‘Dark River’ London Film Festival Premiere

Ruth Wilson has also been in the mix at the London Film Festival, where she attended the ‘Dark River’ premiere on Saturday (October 7).

Her Schiaparelli Fall 2017 Couture design celebrated the heart motif, and for that, there was a sense of charm imbued in the gown.

Yet, with that sweet charm came a sultrier allure in the diaphanous, sheer layers that provided varying degrees of exposure as she walked.

The entrancing drama of the look was completed by her ruby lip, adding to the darker charisma of this statement.
