2019 SAG Awards Menswear Roundup

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features 2019 SAG Awards Menswear

Here’s a look at the handsome fellas at the 2019 SAG Awards on Sunday (January 27) in LA.

Mahershala Ali: The ‘Green Book’ outstanding supporting actor winner cut a suave profile in this riff on an aubergine tuxedo by Ermenegildo Zegna XXX with the brocade effect adding a layer of richness to the ensemble. I like the relaxed elegance of his Bruno Magli smoking slippers and the white bow tie for its crisp, clean finish.

Henry Golding: The Midas touch was definitely rubbing off on the ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ actor, who lived up to his last name with this gold jacket. Opting out of a tie was the right move here, as the Tom Ford ensemble doesn’t seem try-hard even with its metallic sheen.

Chadwick Boseman: The ‘Black Panther’ star continues to impress, as this fancy Ermenegildo Zegna XXX jacket in a leafy tribal pattern styled with the series of lapel pins did the trick — no tie required. Christian Louboutin shoes completed the look.

Chadwick Boseman In Atelier Versace – 2019 Golden Globe Awards

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features Chadwick Boseman In Atelier Versace - 2019 Golden Globe Awards

Chadwick Boseman may have skipped the red carpet at the 2019 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (January 6) in Beverly Hills, California, but he was still on-stage with some of his fellow ‘Black Panther’ cast members.

Based on his impressive style run last year, we could only hope that the actor would continue his top form.

No need to worry, as this custom-made, Atelier Versace silver tuxedo, fully encrusted with Swarovski crystal beadwork and subtle Medusa accents throughout, was a dazzlingly dapper way to kick off the new year.

MoMA Contenders ‘Black Panther’ Screening

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features MoMA Contenders 'Black Panther' Screening

The ‘Black Panther’ promo tour may have started back in January, but Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyong’o, and Angela Bassett were still in promo mode when they attended the MoMA Contenders Screening and Q&A held at Hammer Museum on Tuesday (December 4) in Los Angeles, California.

Chadwick Boseman: We expect swirly paisley prints from Etro, so you may be surprised to learn that Chadwick’s Etro tunic hails from brands Spring 2018 collection. I love that burnt orange colour. Those of you who have been to Africa will recall that this is the colour of the earth, so it this look – styled with contemporary cargo pants and sneakers – was the perfect choice for this screening.

Lupita Nyong’o: The Kenya actress’ look didn’t pay homage to Africa, but this Alessandra Rich Spring 2019 polka dot dress did showcase her flare for colour and pretty feminine frocks. When it comes to the shoes, we’ve learned to accept that simple works best for Lupita.

Angela Bassett: As always, auntie was looking super chic, and extra fly wearing a peach velvet suit from Paule Ka. You know how I feel about velvet, so I was drooling over this three-piece decadent look. Angela likes to take a risk now and then, which have mixed results, but on this occasion she was elegance personified.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

A trio of menfolk have been making waves recently, as their looks can attest.

Chadwick Boseman: At The Hollywood Reporter’s Power 100 Women In Entertainment event on Wednesday (December 5) in LA, Chadwick would not be left on the sidelines in this Calvin Klein ensemble. It was a power look in and of itself with its mishmash of plaid and patterning. It’s never a dull moment with Chadwick, and he proves that men can mix and match prints just as well as women with this quirky look.

Robert Pattinson: Dapper is the only way to describe Rob at the 17th Marrakech International Film Festival opening ceremony on Friday (November 30) in Morocco. His Dior Men midnight-navy and black tux was handsome, dark, and moody — kind of like him.

John Legend: Also going mad for plaid, the singer suited up in a Valentino design that had me falling in love with the pattern all over again as, somehow, it doesn’t overwhelm here. Naturally, he was dressed to impress at his namesake John Legend: A Legendary Christmas powered by Pandora x Express event on Wednesday (December 5) in New York City.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

It’s time to catch up with the menswear circuit, as this past weekend brought with it a slew of handsome fellows on the red carpet.

Richard Madden: At the Evening Standard Theatre Awards 2018 on Sunday (November 18) in London, Richard was ever-so-dapper in a head-to-toe Salvatore Ferragamo look that was striking in its sophistication.

Timothée Chalamet: Continuing to show us his sharp eye for style, the young actor riffed on the classic black suit at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ 2018 Governors Awards in Hollywood on Sunday (November 18). This Haider Ackermann Spring 2019 look offered such cool visual appeal in the jacket’s stained-glass, swirling pattern and shaping.

Eddie Redmayne: Speaking of cool-kids, Eddie will forever be one, especially with looks like this sporty Gucci ensemble at the ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’ photocall in Madrid, Spain on Friday (November 16). Who knew a bee-emblazoned bomber could look so breezy.
