Gemma Chan’s Aje Gown Is Anything But Ordinary
Gemma Chan attended the 2026 SCAD Savannah Film Festival in Georgia on Tuesday evening, where the British actress continued to promote her film Josephine.

As much as I love Gemma’s style, I’m struggling with this Aje Spring 2027 dress.
It’s not so much the silhouette that bothers me, but those trailing black fabric panels, which feel so random. I appreciate that they are part of the design, but they seem disconnected from the rest of the dress, particularly the softness of the watercolour print.
One thing I will always appreciate about Gemma is that her style is never predictable. In the space of two weeks, we’ve seen her in a striking Dries Van Noten print dress, a pretty pink Prada creation, a sculptural Khaite LBD and an understated Ferragamo look. That kind of variety is exactly why I enjoy her fashion choices.
Here, I love the beautiful watercolour print and even the exaggerated proportions, but I can’t get on board with those black panels. They distract from what I think is an otherwise gorgeous dress.

I’m still not completely sold on the dress, but Gemma looks beautiful. And one detail I absolutely love is the black ribbon in her hair, which adds a lovely finishing touch.
Stylist: Rebecca Corbin-Murray.
