Gemma Chan Gives Us Another Reason to Love Dries Van Noten
Gemma Chan attended the Josephine screening at Curzon Soho on Tuesday during the 2026 BFI London Film Festival.

If you were to ask me what my biggest fashion wish is, my answer would always be to see more people wearing Dries Van Noten. It’s a label that simply doesn’t get enough love on the red carpet.
But I feel like my wish is finally coming true. Last week, we had Caitríona Balfe, and this week, Gemma Chan is giving us another reason to celebrate the Belgian fashion house.
And the attraction, as always, is the prints.
Gemma wore the Dries Van Noten Daralyn dress, featuring an enlarged Flemish painting print that combines deep greens, burnt orange and earthy browns. There’s an almost tapestry-like quality to the imagery, but what makes this dress particularly appealing is how the print works with the draping.

It’s this interplay between print and construction that makes Dries Van Noten so interesting to me. Yes, there’s a lot going on visually, which I suspect is why some are hesitant to wear the label’s prints, but the fluid silhouette gives the artwork room to breathe.
The rich colours and painterly composition give the dress the appearance of a canvas, while the asymmetric draping ensures it feels contemporary.
Gemma completed the autumnal look with dangling Cartier earrings and a purposely messy braid.
Stylist: Rebecca Corbin-Murray.
