Pedro Pascal’s Chanel Mix Doesn’t Quite Add Up

Pedro Pascal returned to the red carpet for the world premiere of Behemoth!, held during the 2026 New York Film Festival on Friday evening.

The Chanel ambassador’s Oscars look remains one of my favourite menswear moments of the year, but this? This was highly disappointing.

I say that fully aware that the New York Film Festival has a more relaxed dress code than Cannes, Venice, London or even Toronto. The individual elements are here, but nothing is working together for me.

I can see the hybrid idea he was going for: part old-Hollywood leading man with the striped shirt, tie and waistcoat, and part relaxed, contemporary dressing with the wide-leg tan trousers and rolled-up sleeves. But those two ideas never quite meet in the middle.

My least favourite part of this look is the white waistcoat. I think the entire outfit would have been far more palatable without it. Between the striped shirt, white tie, contrast cuffs and waistcoat, there is simply too much happening on the top half before we even get to the trousers.

I don’t even dislike the black-and-white Chanel CC shoes. I can kind of see the vision if I go back to what the upper half was trying to portray, and there is something appealing about using them to continue that retro thread. But once the tan trousers enter the equation, that connection gets lost.

Complete with Chanel Eyewear and a Chanel BOY·FRIEND watch, I struggled with this one.

A rare no from me.
