Dua Lipa Dresses for the Drama of La Scala in Ashi Studio Couture

Dua Lipa attended the opening night of La Traviata at Milan’s Teatro alla Scala on Saturday, and this was one of those occasions where simply wearing a beautiful black dress wasn’t going to be enough.

La Scala is one of the world’s great opera houses, and La Traviata has a particularly storied history there. The sold-out 2026 production revives Liliana Cavani’s staging, with Dante Ferretti’s sets and Gabriella Pescucci’s costumes, while Nadine Sierra took the title role on opening night.

For Dua, the evening also fulfilled a wish she had already made public. Earlier this month, she named La Scala as a theatre she was eager to visit and specifically mentioned wanting to see La Traviata when it opened in September. So this wasn’t simply another celebrity appearance during a trip to Milan.

And she dressed accordingly.

Dua wore an Ashi Studio Fall 2026 Couture fitted gown with intricate black fur intarsia and embroidery, finished with a dramatic feather-and-organza floral embellishment sweeping across the neckline. The sheer construction could easily have pushed this into familiar Dua territory, but the high neck, sculpted shoulder and extraordinary surface detail give it the grandeur the setting demanded.

Then there’s the back.

The lace-up construction runs almost the entire length of the gown, adding a far more provocative dimension to the silhouette. I love the contrast.

The swept-up hair was essential with that neckline and shoulder detail, while the Ferragamo Gancini mini clutch was all she needed.

Dua spends much of her professional life commanding arenas and festival stages, so there is something fitting about seeing her take her seat in another temple of music. She wasn’t performing this time, but between La Scala, Verdi and Ashi Studio Couture, she understood the magnitude of the night.
