Venice Film Festival 2026: Saturday Night Premiere Looks
Here is a roundup from the Saturday night premieres and Kinéo Award ceremony during the Venice Film Festival, where purple made the biggest impact, while lace, tailoring and more experimental silhouettes also had their moment.
Kinéo Award Ceremony
Nicola Peltz Beckham received the Rising Star Award at the ceremony, marking the occasion in a Balenciaga Fall 2026 Haute Couture gown that gives me serious Dune vibes.
The saturated purple alone is spectacular, but I love how the sculpted corset, cut-outs and asymmetric draping give way to that enormous skirt and train. This is a lot of gown, yet Nicola carries it beautifully. She tends to favour understated or tailored looks, so I love that she went big and bold for such a landmark moment.
Primetime Premiere
Suki Waterhouse wore the same Saint Laurent Pre-Fall 2026 look we saw on Dana Delany on Friday night, and this just confirms to me that I much prefer this design in burgundy. This pale lace version feels much more muted and duller by comparison. I even prefer Natalia Dyer’s copper version. Actually, maybe the lighting is holding this look back, because I believe Suki is wearing the same pale green colour we saw on Daisy Edgar-Jones, yet it looks considerably duller here.
I can’t say that I love this McQueen Fall 2026 grey sheer gown on Phoebe Bridgers, but it does suit her alternative, slightly gothic style. Between the exposed lingerie, lace panels and trailing hem, this feels entirely believable on Phoebe, even if the dress itself isn’t winning me over.
Succederà Questa Notte Premiere
Emilia Schüle’s Dior Resort 2027 dress reminds me of Michelle Yeoh’s Schiaparelli Haute Couture 2023 SAG Awards dress, in that it looks like the contents of a shredder. There is certainly plenty of texture here, but all those strips of fabric hanging from the dress make it difficult for me to see beyond that comparison.
Kasia Smutniak opted for an Armani black suit and white tie, which made for a welcome change of pace among the gowns. I love how consistently she delivers on this red carpet every year. This is classic Armani with a smouldering edge, while Garatti jewels completed her look.
Greta Scarano wore a Fendi Resort 2027 look featuring the distinctive gold collar and cuffs we first saw on celebrities at the Fall 2026 Couture front row. My question is: why the trousers? It looks as though the embellished dress would have been too sheer without them, but the added layer makes the whole look feel heavier than it needed to be.
Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger Premiere
Prada’s obsession with pink satin needs to be studied. Benedetta Porcaroli wore this custom Prada look, which sits outside the column dresses we usually see from the house, but once again, I’m baffled by the fit of the top half.
It looks a size too big for her. I like the idea of the mini skirt with the apron-like panel, but I can’t get past how loosely the top sits on her frame. The concept is there; the fit needed another pass.
