Anne Hathaway’s D23 2026 Maternity Style in J’amemme & Aflalo

Disney’s 2026 D23 Expo brought fans together for a weekend celebrating the studio’s upcoming films, television projects, theme parks and the stars who have helped shape its legacy.

Anne Hathaway took a break from her The End of Oak Street press tour to promote the upcoming The Princess Diaries 3, easily one of Disney’s most anticipated sequels, more than two decades after we were first introduced to Mia Thermopolis.

While Anne is returning to The Princess Diaries as Genovia’s Queen Mia Thermopolis, Julie Andrews, who played Mia’s grandmother, Queen Clarisse Renaldi, confirmed this week that she will not be reprising her role.

D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event

For her first appearance, Anne wore a red J’amemme Loulou plissé maxi dress layered over ivory trousers, creating a striking contrast that made the sculptural details stand out even more.

I love how the sculpted swirls curve around her body, with the plissé fabric folding and curling into voluminous waves. It’s dramatic, sculptural and especially effective in red, but what I love most is that you almost forget this is a maternity look. The sculptural shape takes centre stage, with her bump becoming part of the silhouette rather than the defining feature.

And the ivory trousers were the right choice. The red trousers featured in the lookbook aren’t as dynamic.

Disney Legends

A few days later, while receiving the Disney Legends Award, the actress wore a blue Aflalo Celestia plissé dress.

Blue is fast becoming my favourite colour on Anne during her pregnancy press tours, and this shade makes a convincing case for keeping that streak going.

I love how different this feels from the first dress despite returning to plissé. The loose column silhouette, open back and draped sleeves create an elegant, fluid shape, while that electric blue immediately commands the stage. It’s simpler than the J’amemme look, but certainly not forgettable.

Considering both looks were worn on stage, colour was always going to matter, and Anne understood that. Red and cobalt blue ensured neither dress disappeared against the scale of the D23 setting.

Two plissé dresses, two completely different results. While I’m developing a serious weakness for Anne in blue, the red-and-ivory J’amemme is my favourite for its silhouette and modernity.
