Kerry Washington Wore Oscar de la Renta To ‘The Whoopi Monologues’ Opening Night
Kerry Washington, who plays Surfer Girl, one of the five iconic characters from Whoopi Goldberg’s original 1984 one-woman show, The Whoopi Monologues, attended the opening night held at Lincoln Center’s Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater in New York City on Monday.
If you’re anything like me, this Oscar de la Renta gown is giving you déjà vu.
I could have sworn I’d seen it on Kerry before, but after looking back through her archive, I realised it was the silhouette that was playing tricks on me. It closely echoes the silver embellished Oscar de la Renta column gown she wore to the Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery London Film Festival opening gala last October. It also brought to mind Taraji P. Henson’s Oscar de la Renta look from the 2024 Tony Awards.
I was completely captivated by Kerry’s last outing, but this one has me in even more of a chokehold.
I’m equally enamoured with Kerry’s styling. Her goddess braids were the perfect choice, bringing a summery, bohemian feel to this glamorous gown.
The gold Jimmy Choo Ixia metallic pumps, sculptural David Webb earrings and cuff bracelet tied everything together beautifully.
Oscar de la Renta has delivered another standout moment, but Kerry deserves equal credit for bringing it to life.
Stylists: Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn.
