Which Was Your Favourite Anne Hathaway ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ Press Tour Look?
Anne Hathaway has long occupied that rare space where fashion expectations follow her everywhere. Add in the fact that she reprised Andy Sachs for The Devil Wears Prada 2, and it felt as though this press tour arrived with a level of anticipation that few actresses – aside from Zendaya – ever experience.
Which is why the opening chapter of this tour felt surprisingly uneven.

The Mexico and Asia stops gave us Stella McCartney, Valentino Haute Couture, Vaquera, Balenciaga and Susan Fang. On paper, it sounds adventurous. In reality, most of those looks never quite clicked. Some felt too conceptual, others lacked the effortless confidence that usually defines Anne at her best. There was a sense that the fashion was working harder than she was.

I had spent months convincing myself that this tour would become a showcase for Valentino’s archives. That fantasy never materialised. Instead, the biggest surprise was seeing Anne embrace Louis Vuitton not once, but twice, especially considering it is not a house we typically associate with her.

Thankfully, the tour found its footing once she returned to the United States and then London.

The Atelier Versace moment immediately felt more in tune with what we expect from Anne, while reminding everyone just how effective Anne can be when she leans into classic glamour.
Looking back at the tour as a whole, I find myself with mixed feelings.

There were individual successes, but the consistency I expected never really arrived. Had it not been for Meryl Streep delivering a flawless run alongside her, I suspect my disappointment would have been greater. Meryl’s appearances almost created a separate conversation around the film, making it easier to view Anne’s fashion journey as a collection of highs and lows rather than one fully realised narrative.
Stylist: Erin Walsh.
