The 2026 Chaplin Award Gala honoured George Clooney at a ceremony held in New York City last night, where he was joined by his wife, Amal Clooney.
When it comes to red carpet style for this couple, it is Amal who delivers the glamour. I have long admired her approach, and this look from Pier Paolo Piccioli’s Balenciaga Spring 2026 collection is no exception.
Her usual red carpet M.O. is floor-length gowns and column silhouettes, so this rare off-the-shoulder mini, with its voluminous bodice and draped back detail, feels like a notable shift.
The change didn’t stop at the dress. Amal is known for her signature glossy lengths, but hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos – who recently softened her colour with lighter highlights – opted for a rare updo, adding to the sense of a refreshed direction.
Cartier jewels, a gold clutch, and matching metallic pumps completed the look, rounding out a head-to-toe update that still feels true to her glamorous red carpet identity.
