Cynthia Erivo Wore Danielle Frankel To The Santa Barbara International Film Festival
Cynthia Erivo was honoured with the 2025 Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival — a moment designed to celebrate an artist’s body of work and cultural impact.

On a night built around legacy, Cynthia arrived in a look that felt like a reset from her recent red carpet run. After two years of revisiting black dresses in every possible iteration for both Wicked films, seeing her embrace warmth and softness again was genuinely refreshing.
She wore a custom Danielle Frankel espresso silk satin slip dress, cut on the bias. I love how the asymmetric draping and the extended shawl detail created a fluid, elongated line that worked beautifully with her stature and presence.

I’m completely thrown by the quiet sensuality, but what really caught me was the tone of the dress. Espresso on silk satin hits that perfect midpoint between depth and glow, and under the lights it was almost like liquid bronze.
Marco Bicego jewels completed her look.

A richly deserved honour, and a beautifully considered look to receive it in.
