A Simple Wardrobe Whirlwind: Blake Lively’s Multi-Look Frenzy Continues
Oh, how terribly naïve of me to believe we’d get just one look from Blake Lively on Tuesday. Of course not. This is Blake “multiple outfits before launch” Lively we’re talking about, and with the release of Another Simple Favor hitting Prime Video tomorrow, May 1, the promo machine is in full swing. And when Blake’s on the press tour clock, so is her wardrobe.

First up, a tailored Chanel boucle ensemble that proves you can never go wrong with a classic—especially when it comes with a twist. The waistcoat layered over a blazer kept it feeling fresh. She recycled her Christian Louboutin Estepic spiked leather pumps from her earlier look, stacked on a healthy helping of bracelets—very on-brand Blake—and swapped in a new clutch. But of course, not just any clutch. This one? A Judith Leiber piece shaped like a pepperoni pizza, nodding to the film’s Italian setting. Because if there’s one thing Blake will do, it’s commit to a theme, however niche.

Now for the Rahul Mishra Spring 2025 Couture moment. That tulle sequin 3D floral midi skirt? Breathtaking. The kind of couture piece that deserves its own spotlight. Paired with a plain black top? Perfect. But the spiked Louboutin shoes felt too fussy here. The skirt should’ve been the lone diva here. I’m guessing this was a press junket look—but it gives chat show energy.

And then, the final look from Forza Collective that made me audibly say, “What is going on here?” A leather two-piece that felt like an ode to confusion. The oversized fit was overwhelming and unflattering. The trousers so long her studded Louboutins were stepping on them. And then, that ruffled peplum situation above the waist. Again. “What is going on here?” This might just be my least favourite Blake look since that puzzling Versace ensemble from the It Ends With Us press tour. There’s a fine line between edgy and inexplicable, and this tipped into the latter.

Whether this leather look closes the Another Simple Favor promo circuit or we’re in for another flurry today, I have to say—this press tour has left me wanting more. Not in a “can’t wait to see the next look” way, but more in the sense of cohesion. The usual Blake magic felt scattered, as though the tour was pulled together last minute, without the signature styling narrative we’re used to seeing from her. And while I fully respect that life is busy—and her private life is off limits here—fashion-wise, this has been a whirlwind without the wow.
