New York Fashion Week is officially in full swing, and Saks Fifth Avenue made sure the celebrations started with a bang. On Wednesday evening, the iconic retailer hosted a star-studded soirรฉe at the newly opened Crane Club Restaurant, where fashionโs finest gathered to toast the season ahead.

Laura Harrier made her second red carpet appearance of 2025, and in true Laura fashion, she stuck to what she knows bestโblack, fitted, and utterly sleek. Her Alaรฏa ruched crushed-velvet turtleneck midi dress felt like a natural continuation of her 2024 style streak. If the dress looks familiar, thatโs because weโve already seen it twice beforeโon Georgina Rodriguez and Dua Lipa in a sheer, embellished variation. Christian Louboutin Miss Z pumps completed her look.
But letโs be real, when you find a silhouette that works for you, why reinvent the wheel? Laura exuded effortless sophistication, proving that sometimes, consistency is key.
Layers of Luxe
Hari Nefโs oxblood crushed-velvet straight-leg trousers from the Ferragamo Resort 2025 collection gave this look a grounding, autumnal richness, while the printed silk tunic added an unexpected softness. Itโs a textbook example of why layering worksโwithout those trousers, the tunic alone might have felt too flimsy for a winter soirรฉe.
