Francesco Risso dressed four celebrities in Marni for the 2024 Met Gala on Monday.
I love how Nicki Minaj’s custom Marni sculptural hourglass hand-painted dress adorned with three-dimensional flowers was on theme while embodying her quirky style personality.
Modernizing a ’50s silhouette, the dress featuring a multitude of sculpted flowers stemming from the fabric to create the illusion of a blossoming bouquet.
The look was styled with a matching one-of-a-kind Marni Trunkaroo bag along with pointed-toe silk satin pumps and floral-inspired jewelry designed for the occasion.
This was very much a case of “the girls who get it, get it.” And by get it, I mean, understand the assignment.
The open silhouette of Rita Ora’s Marni nude bodysuit accented with a tapestry of floor-length strands of multi-coloured beads is a novel way the singer to show some skin.
While the idea was to celebrate the beauty of the body through an intricate interplay of glimmers and refractions, Rita Ora wasn’t the person to sell that vision to me.

Rita’s husband Taika Waititi has never been afraid to make a statement on the red carpet, so I was surprised he didn’t lean more into the theme.
That being said, I do love the cool vibe emanating off this head-to-toe soft chocolate brown nappa leather Marni ensemble. He has the swagger to pull it off.
Charli XCX wore a white draped Marni gown crafted from patchworked vintage t-shirts from the 1950s and 1970s.
Fully embroidered with rhinestones and glass beads, with a tonal thread dissolving into the fabric, I love how she amplified the rock glamour with her hair and makeup.
