Fuchsia is generally a universally flattering lip shade that works for all skin tones, but for fall, the key is to pick something a little deeper than what you would wear for summer.

Typically reserved for high-glam 80s icons, the bright purple-y pink hue popped up on Kerry Washington recently, so I had to go in search of the best fuchsia hues that are currently on the market as fuchsia has many graduated tones.

Fuchsia is thought of as a summer colour, so to transition this trend for fall, opt for lipsticks that are mostly matte (gloss is more summery) and are a shade or two darker than the ones you’d choose for summer.

The key to achieving the perfect fuchsia lip is the application is by carefully applying one layer of lip colour, then blot with a tissue to create a stain.

Then apply another coat of lipstick for a super saturated colour.
